I am in town next week and I need to do some swimming. Will Cub Run allow for a weekly pass for an out of towner? Do they allow daily passes?

Thanks.

I did the research.

No weekly passes.

Yes non-Fairfax county Residents can get a daily pass for just under 9 bucks a day.

One member of the forum can skip work next week and stay home. That way we can keep the careful balance of just enough cars to make traffic wretched.

If you are interested, I think there is a guy who does a group OWS on Thursday evenings in Loudoun County, the next county over from Fairfax.  I am going with his group this coming Sunday... if you are interested let me know and I can find out if he is doing it on Thursday.

It sounds interesting. When they do the OWS, how does it work? Is it just swimming some distance at a lake, do they do drills, is it a simulation of a race?

Please do ask. I lived in South Riding for a year so I am mildly familiar with Loudoun County. Is the water cold this time of year? Keep in mind, that not only do I live in Hawaii, the places I swim are heated by lava.

Thanks

I haven't been yet, but my impression is that it is mostly a bunch of people swimming at their own pace.  You can probably do whatever you want.  I will be bringing up the rear in all likehilood.

It is in a reservoir in Ashburn.  The guy who runs the swim, Steve, said that he requires people to wear wetsuits, not because of water temp., but for safety.  If you don't have one, he makes you swim with some sort of flotation device attached.  I would guess that the water would probably be in the mid to low 70s, as the volcanos in Ashburn have lied dormant for millions of years.

Are you in Hawaii now?  What time is it out there?  Shouldn't you be in bed?

I "work" east coast time so this week I have been getting up at 2:00 AM. I am visiting the office next week that is why I will be in Chantilly. 70s isn't too bad, bummer about the wetsuit thing. I will have to re-evaluate when I get into town.

Hey Tim - How did the OWS go up in Ashburn.  Is that an ongoing thing?  I'd like to get another OWS in before the Annapolis tri in early September.  What did you think?

 Thanks!
