Pre-race routine:

Got up about 5 and threw the stuff in the car. Ate some chererios and water. Drove and got there about 6:45
Event warmup:

Set up my transition area, then sat in the car and read the paper. Oh, and then I swam a bit. The water seemed warmer than the air temp.
  • 17m 18s
  • 656 yards
  • 02m 38s / 100 yards

Once again I underestimated how brutal the open water swim is. This time I went with the larger seal goggles. They still got kicked off. I swam freestyl the whole breast stroke or side, so I was happy about that. knocked 2 min off last year's swim. Sighting was good for a change.
What would you do differently?:

swim faster. roll better.
Transition 1
  • 01m 37s

would have had a faster T1 if the girl in front of me pushing her bike down the middle had felt a little urgency. Seems she was just out for a stroll.
What would you do differently?:

I just need to not dawdle here.
  • 39m 33s
  • 12.8 miles
  • 19.42 mile/hr

Love this bike course...even with the awful hill at the beginning. I passed a lot of people, and it was really crowded. I really had to concentrate on not drafting. I went back and forth wih a couple of guys for quite a while. Still didn't break the magic avg of 20mph. but not bad for a fat girl.
What would you do differently?:

pushed harder on the hills...Lose more weight!
Transition 2
  • 01m 54s

The transition area on the pavement was better, but the run uphill in cleats sort of sucked.
What would you do differently?:

Just need to not dawdle.
  • 32m 6s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 21s  min/mile

Working on maintaining a mid foot strike. still had to walk some. This is where a lot of people passed me.
What would you do differently?:

No walking!
Post race
Warm down:

ate an orange, drank some blue drink.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slow transitions, slow run.
