Great job and very inspiring. Did you have any issues with lose skin? Thanks again, it good to see that others have made the journey that I have only recently started.

Interesting issue. I was concerned about loose skin when I was in the "thick of it" of the big weight loss. And it was not an issue.

However, not that I am stabilized and at a confortable weight, I did notice I do have SOME loose skin in the belly area. At first, I thought it was yet some unburned extra fat, but turns out it's just loose skin. But it's not something that is "visually" intolerable.

JoshKaptur - 2007-07-21 11:29 AM Sweet photo collage dude - you should consider posting that in the "before and after" thread... I can't find the link at the moment but hopefully someone knows where it is.

Congrats Bryan! Very Inspirational.  Here is link to thread Josh mentioned:

Congrats! I can really relate to your situation when you started, since I'm in the exact same spot you were in a year ago. the only difference is I weigh 263.

You are definitely an inspiration for me!

Could you recommend some books and other resources you used to start off with?

I was away on holidays last week and was happy to see this morning that my thread is still going.

Not my original intent, but maybe this is the legagy of my journey. So I will keep monitoring and replying. If only one person can be inspired by it, I will have accomplished something!

It may sound boring, but it all starts in the head. Once you "turn the switch" and make the commitment to change your lifestyle, things just follow. There was not one book that made a difference for me, but I did read tons and tons of material both on the web and in books.

I started from scratch (ie: fitness walking). So the first "important" book I got was by Mark Fenton: The Complete Guide to Walking for Health, Weight Loss, and Fitness.

After that, the "rest was history".

One thing that really did it for me was to treat the journey just as if I was an athlete. Okay, maybe a real big and slow one in the beginning, but I viewed myself as an athelete in training and competition, not just a guy trying to lose weight. It's mostly a mental thing, but it was huge for me.
