Champion  10471    Dallas, TX |  Subject: Wanted: Outdoor community pool in Dallas with lap swimming after 5:00 PM!Can anyone help me out here? I'm looking for an OUTDOOR POOL in Dallas that allows lap swimming AFTER 5:00/6:00 PM. I'm sick of swimming in cold indoor pools and I want to get a little sun. I also need a community pool, so I don't have to pay a membership fee... but instead a per entrance fee. Of course, any pool that accepts money per entrance would be fine. I couldn't find a pool in Plano or Carrollton that fit this bill. I did find a YMCA near my office (North Town) that had a nice pool.... BBBBUUUTTTT it's $60 a month to join. I also don't want to join the Dallas Aquatic Masters because it's $60 a month. Swimming 1 day a week with them doesn't justify the cost. Anyone have any ideas! |

They actually have, I believe 4 adult only lanes, and 1 lane for youths. kproudfoot - 2007-07-20 1:35 PM City of Carrollton has 2 pools, the one on Rosemead and old denton is 25 meters. SMU 50 meter pool is also available I believe. Rosemeade pool only has lap swimming from 12-1. Nothing in the evening. SMU, the pool closes at 6:00 PM. I actually just called the pool in Carrollton and it seems like from 12-1 they shut down the 50meter pool for lap swim only but then the rest of the time the 25 meter lanes are available for adults only. The only problem is there is a $5 fee for non residents (thank god I live in Carrollton.) |

Jack Carter in Plano has an outdoor 50m pool with $2 entry and looks to be open till 8pm (not sure about lap swimming, though). Here is Plano parks and rec page. I know Liberty Rec center also has a (possibly just shy of) 25yd outdoor pool with 2 lap lanes. |

Gaarryy - 2007-07-20 2:09 PM I think the pool is "ONLY Lap" from 12 to 1 but there is lap available the rest of the time you just have to deal with yelling screaming kids the rest of the time but they really don't bother the lap swimmers.http://www.cityofcarrollton.com/leisure/parksrec/Athletics/Aquatics%20page.asp

my sister swims up at rosemead out pool and while they have lap swim only from 12-1, up to 8pm there are a couple of lanes up for lap swimmers I called them... and they told me no lap swimming... it's only from 12-1. So, I would hate to go there and not have anywhere to swim...ya know? It's not exactly very close for me... especially in 5:30 PM rush hour traffic. |

I live close to the pool (like 5 minutes) away and it is on my way home. I will get them for you on Monday. Evening hours are Tuesday and Thursday 6:30 to 10:30 (but are limited earlier in the session to the shallow end as they use the deep end for classes) and Friday from 6:30 to 9:00. Only problem is it is inside but it only cost $1.50. |

I went to the Jack Carter pool today and they DID have lap swimming - 3 lanes of about 25yards I'm guessing. It is a beautiful 50 meter pool, but they just run it like a big community pool! Shame. The lifegaurd said they never have the 50 meter lanes open. |
