Run
Comments: A major mess at the start. Too many walkers/slow runners lined up at the front. I really had a hard time gettingthrough them and still had a 8:40 first mile! I'm not fast obviously, but I felt faster than most at the start. Very frustrating. Rest of the run was great...really pushed it at the end to finish under 28:00. What would you do differently?: Start farther toward the front! Post race
Warm down: Two bottles of water, fruit, while waiting in line for the goodie bag and food/beverage coupon. Free $5 card for food/beverage in GermanFest. Walked back to my car to drop off stuff and headed in to GermanFest for a bratwurst. What limited your ability to perform faster: Still not down to goal weight plus I need to do some speed work at a track. Event comments: Loved this race! The race benefitted a homeless shelter meal program run by the Capuchin order of priests/brothers. I have worked with Capuchins in the past and really respect their mission. It felt good to help. Goal of the race was 500 participants...they had 700 (including walkers). This meant that 1400 lbs of meat was donated to the meal program from a local meat company. Last updated: 2007-07-19 12:00 AM
