I just wanted to introduce myself. I will be moving back to omaha in september and wanting to get involved. New to this sport and going to give it a shot. Recently completed a mini marathon. Over the course of the fall and winter i want to get in even better shape, work on the swim, and compete in the spring and summer. any advice and help would be great.

Hi there.

Welcome back to Omaha!  There are quite a few folks in the area that participate actively in tris, running and biking.  You might want to check out the midwest multisport community at one of the Trek stores.  I've been able to connect with a few people through this group to help with the training.

Here's a link

Also, here is a link to the Nebraska forum - Quite a few of us that live in the area post frequently - This has also been a good way to meet others.  I was actually able to form team for an upcoming tri through this forum.

One last link - we are getting a group of locals together for a group ride in Sept.  It may become a semi regular thing.

I personally workout at 24 hr fitness and there are quite a few members at the location I go to that do tris.  I know lots of others that work out at the Y.

Hope this helps!

Advice: Stay south of Dodge and West of 60th Street. Preferably 72nd. Especially at night.

There are teo master swim programs in Omaha for swimming. One is at UNO and meets several times per day. The other is at the College of Saint Mary's and meets at 6am every morning. Both will get you in good swimming shape/form!
