Pre-race routine:

Ha! Needs improvement. I took too long getting up/ready and the line was huge getting signed in. I had barely enough time to set up my transition area. But it all worked out in the end, and I did eat a good breakfast.
Event warmup:

Almost none. Ran out of time, before the start got a quick stretch or two in that's about it.
Swim
  • 08m 15s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim time for me, beat my average in the pool by over a min.
What would you do differently?:

Still need to work on my breathing, hopefully over the winter in the pool I'll be able to round out my form.
Transition 1
  • 03m

Estimate
What would you do differently?:

Next time no bike gloves, lost at least a min trying to get them on wet hands.
Bike
  • 34m 23s
  • 10 miles
  • 17.45 mile/hr
Comments:

Pushed hard on the bike, it was my strong event. If I hadn't been preoccupied with eating my GU I may have cut a little time off here, but at my current level it wouldn't have been much.
What would you do differently?:

Tried to get a GU packet in, but there was too much going on I ended up getting it all over my bike/gloves and eventually dropping it. Just skip it next time.
Transition 2
  • 02m
Comments:

What would you do differently?:

Took a big gulp of sport drink heading into the run, felt it the first mile or so.
Run
  • 24m 49s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Fastest run to date
What would you do differently?:

Push it a little harder next time, towards the end I picked up my pace a bit but I think I could have given it more.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

First tri, with more practice I can clean up my transitions. I also would like to drop about 20 more pounds.

Event comments:

Good race overall, great for a first time tri. My only real complaint is the swim is in such shallow water. People kept standing and walking making it harder for those who actually wanted to swim.

Great job, fellow RI'er!  Way to go on beating all of your training times.   That must have sucked about the shallow water...I would have been frustrated if many were walking it!

Great Job!! I was right behind you as a fellow Clyde. I had the same thoughts with the swim..."hey guys we're swimming not walking"...doesn't make sense to enter a Tri and not actually swim. You doing any other races in the area? Again great race, maybe we'll meet up at one of them.
