Swim
Comments: goggles broke 30 seconds to start. cap came off around lap 6. yeah. i stayed as positive as possible. i used to swim w/o goggles when i was younger. granted those races weren't nearly as long. oh well, vision is over rated anyhow. about the cap...at least i have short hair. What would you do differently?: triple check goggle strap. bring the extra pair that's in your bag over to the pool w/ me! no powder in cap! Transition 1
Comments: ran to wrong rack. opps. find bike. helmet on. glasses on. shoes on. grab bike. run. get on. good clip in. and i'm off! pass people at line and around first corner onto campbell. damn wind!!! Bike
What would you do differently?: DON"T DRINK GATORADE!!!! (even w/ half water) just water probably fine for sprint. get aerobars. get shoes that fit properly. make sure computer's working. double check dismount line. Transition 2
Comments: slowed to near stop too early. lazy leg caught on top tube, dropped bike and nealry went down with it. wrong rack AGAIN. What would you do differently?: mark transition area!!! triple check dismount line. Run
Comments: do i have legs? can we say cramping? my whole abdomen is having a firey tug-of-war (thanks gatorade) i have to stop and walk right after the turn around (at 1.5) i walk about 50 yards. pain subsides slightly. i am angry. i will finish RUNNING. i go. water. in face. i turn it on. maybe too early, but i RUN to the line. Post race
Warm down: forgot. i was so exhilirated! and tired. i walked around briefly. banana. orange. WATER. What limited your ability to perform faster: gatorade. no goggles (broke) no cap (slipped off) went to wrong rack. slowed down to near stop too soon (should verify dismount line) foot caught, dropped bike. went to wrong rack again. stomach issues. pain. walked. gatorade. Event comments: prizes were lame. age group places: race belt. even overall placers only got next race entry paid. pathetic. they did raffle 2 stealth frames. i didn't win. i do however now have a red (2nd place 20-24) race belt. woo hoo.
