Run
Comments: I did worse than I thought I would. I ran this course in 24 minutes last year, and after a year of tri-training, my 5K time has been under 24 minutes (in sprint tris), and under 23 for stand-alone 5Ks. There it is, though. It was blazing hot and humid and I certainly did not push myself. I was pretty surprised to have my 2nd slowest 5k (second only to the very first one I did). Tough hills--- This is a fun race, though, and a friendly atmosphere. I'm not too upset by my time. What would you do differently?: Train hills more. Post race
Warm down: The after party of this race is without comparison. 4 drink tickets (beer or wine) are attached to your race number. About 30 food booths-- BBQ, burgers, brats, pizza, Thai noodles, chili, jambalya, ice cream, bagels, grilled cheese, subs, nachos, popcorn... plus a reggae band. I ate and drank, met some friends, complained about my poor showing, and went home. What limited your ability to perform faster: The weather, and lack of hill training. Event comments: Gotta do this race. It's loads of fun. Last updated: 2007-10-04 12:00 AM
