  • Comments: Very well organized, plenty of volunters and aid stations. Great pre- and post-race activities. Nice sourvenir, shirt & hat. Very fun race and would do again to see if I could improve and handle conditions better. Overall race time was 6:37.

  • Comments: This really was a great race but there are definitely a couple things that need to be addressed. The car line to get to parking was long and slow and the lines for the bus to tranistion were brutally long.

  • Comments: Considering my two "falls" both were related to obtaining drinks from volunteers, I'd suggest a bit more instructions be given to those folks. I understand that they are not paid for their services; however, I'm not paying to receive untrained personnel hand me liquid. I take some blame for both falls. Both falls would have been prevented had the volunteers a) spoken up and informed me what they had b) held the bottle properly so that the handup was a bit more smooth. A better system for shuttling BOTH atheletes and spectators to the race site is probably in order. Gary Goode (yes, I'm mention him by name) walked up and into a line and went straight onto a bus. We had been waiting a good 30 minutes...and STILL waited another 10 before we were allowed on. The person in charge of deciding which lane goes first obviously didn't have a clear plan. Kudo's to you Gary. You picked the right line. :-)

  • Comments: I think this race and the support of the BT'ers here is just what I need to get out of my injury funk and start to appreciate triathlon for all it's wonderful dimensions. A lot times I tend to get all wrapped up in my own personal performances, forgetting that this sport can be a socially rewarding experience too. I was so happy for so many BT'ers out there yesterday who set PRs or who finished their first 70.3! Thanks for inspiring me!

  • Comments: My pre-race goal time was 5:00 and I ended up with 4:59:09 which surprised me considering how brutal the course was and how unprepared I was. The swim was a little short by ~2-3mins but even so I feel the race taught me a lot and now I won't get a shirt penalty in my A-race next year!

  • Comments: I only put the "Events on Time?" as No, because the race started about 20 minutes later than slated due to the delayed shuttling of people from the parking lots to the Transition site. I loved this race, the run was BRUTAL for me and alot of people I spoke with, but what's a triathlon without the pain? I'm looking forward to my next HIM . . . which hopefully will be flat.

  • Comments: Even with their apparent misgivings at measuring the swim, I still think Keith and Crew do the best job organizing a race. This race was harder than Vineman, but not every race can have 50 degree start temps with clouds and a high of only 80.

  • Comments: The bus issue delayed the start a bit. Only so many buses can run that route at a time, so I don't expect that to change much. If it doesn't, Keith just needs to communicate VERY clearly that athletes need to arrive well over an hour in advance. Carey got mad props for her work as El Diablo on the bike course again this year.

  • Comments: Great support in all areas of race- water every 10 miles on bike, tons of water/food on run. Great course/transition area markings. Did, howver, feel mislead on the "flat" run. Race organizers did a great job dealing with the heat. Only wish the steer would have stuck around longer for a picture!

  • Comments: This was a great race!!! It was well organized and very well prepared for the hot and humid conditions that we had on that day. It also made it a lot of fun to do an event with some many people that you know. It was fun and encouraging to see people to cheer on and say hi to out on the run course. That was the one thing that i really liked abiut the run- the loops made it possible to see friends many diferent times! :) The amazing thing (or maybe not so amazing since I walked so much) is that i didn't feel sore at all from this race. It just felt like a training day, and I feel like i could easily do another one this weekend. That is probably due to the fact that i didn't push myself to my full ability. I figure I'll save my racing for the shorter races and just enjoy the exprience of a HIM. Or, then again, maybe someday I'll decide to actually race one. ;) I do know that I'll be doing another HIM! :)

  • Comments: Keith Jordan and his crew do an absolutely amazing job. Many race organizations can't pull off something like this after years of experience in one venue. Endorfun did a world class job and it's their first time in this city. Any race that still has ice at every aid station on the run 7 hours in, with temps in the mid 90's is doing it right. The attention to detail and sheer dedication to athletes *and spectators* is just overwhelming. Everyone involved with putting this race on should be proud of themselves. You did a fantastic job. No one organizes or runs half iron distance triathlon races/festivals better than Keith Jordan and Endorfun Sports. Incredible volunteers. Just incredible. Austin is an awesome city. I just fell in love with the area. Now the nitpicky: I would have appreciated more buoys between the turns on the swim course and the weeds at the beginning were kind of a hassle. That's all I can think of. This race was practically perfect.

  • Comments: I had set a goal to finish in under 6:30 hours and I did that by 7 minutes. I'm proud of my effort and it made me realize with good consistent training CDA is possible. It was so awesome meeting the BTers and cheering each other on. I can't wait to do this one again.

  • Comments: Keith put on an unbelievable event. When you read about what can happen at other events (ahem, Chicago) you realise how hard it is to do these things right. We had lots of volunteers, plenty of drinks & food. Well-marked course. Great entertainment on the course and at the end. Just an all-round brilliant experience.. thank you guys!

  • Comments: The race was extremely well put on. Kudos to endorfunsports for sure. They rival IMNA, actually I think they are better. The volunteers were amazing. They had awesome volunteers at all the aid stations which were well stocked even for us BOPPERS. I would highly reccomend a race put on by this group. I didn't stay for any food. I was kind of depressed about going roughly 1.5 hours slower than my first HIM. I think a huge factor for me was the amount of stress I have had the week coming into this race. Costly computer disaster, office manager/PT quitting, my mom in ICU, having to learn to run a medical practice in 2 weeks, trying to come to terms with the fact that the business is doing horrendously and the consequences of that due to MAPs idiotic business sense. It all left me with no desire to race and no mental game. Its kind of funny because I realized over time reading IM race reports that the 2 places people fall down on race day are nutritionally or mentally. My
