  • Comments: was hotter and harder than I thought. being on the straight, flat boring silver strand highway was a drag. once we were back in the beach neighborhood for the final 4-5 miles it was much more enjoyable

  • Comments: I last did this race in 2006 and the organization has improved a great deal. Course is very isolated with NO spectator support. (Other than the start and the finish)

  • Comments: This was a nice, intimate (3500 entries) race, that was close to home. I was very familiar with the course, so there weren't any surprises. The switchback at mile 10 was a bit deceiving, made you feel like you were closer to the finish than you really were. The unfortunate part of this race was that I passed by a gentleman who had collapsed. He was probably only a minute or two in front of me, since no medical staff had arrived yet. I later found out that he had passed away :( Despite that tragedy, I would run this race again. The timing makes this the final 1/2 Mary of the year, there is no full marathon.

  • Comments: signed up at the last minute, intending to use the race as a long training run for Carlsbad half-marathon in January. It's more fun to do long runs with lots of people!

  • Comments: Had a pretty bad time here last year due to delays and heat. Race time was delayed again but not as bad as last year. Definitely not enough Portos at the start. Folks had been in line for over 30 minutes and were still their when the gun fired.

  • Comments: I had a wonderful day it felt good finishing well under my target time. I always enjoy crossing the finish line and looking over and seeing my wonderful family there cheering me on and being supportive of me.... Thanks Honey... Thanks Boo and Thanks Mom.. They always make me feel awesome come race day...
