  • Comments: I can not say enough about the voluteers, friends and family that stood in the pouring rain and supported us. T tried to thank each and every one of them as I passed by. They and my fellow athletes were my inspiration and motivation. Because of them I had the best race of my life.

  • Comments: I think the organization and volunteers were top notch. The fan support was great too! For the entry fee, there truly was a great deal of support and direction given the magnitude of putting on a race like this. My *only* complaint is I think they coulda used a portapotty or two randomly placed on the bike course. You get these tips "oh, if you don't pee by mile 18, you're not drinking enough" but then where do you go? It doesn't even need to be a manned station. You're warned over and over not to use the bushes or what have you but the aid stations were farther apart than I cared for. I was in tears by the last aid station my bladder was so full. Also a HUGE THUMB'S DOWN to the 2:00 p.m. start. I highly recommend against it, *especially* for a first timer. I thought the time would hamper my physical ability being a morning person but the mental toll it took on me I think contributed to my poor performance.

  • Comments: GREAT race, despite the crappy weather. Really, was the most challenging ride and run I've been on, ever, due to the weather. Was wet to the bone from about 5 miles into the ride until I ran up the shoot. Still, a GREAT race. Loved Boise--amazing support team there, very well-organized. Will definitely do this race again next year.

  • Comments: Ironman is awesome. I liked the loud speakers, music and all the people, great atmosphere. I was worried about nutrition. I followed the Hammer method and it worked great. Mixed my Perpetuem 2 scoops with a full bottle of water and added some enduralite powder, perfect

  • Comments: Great venue for the race. Very well organized. The volunteers were 2nd to none. They were enthusiastic and brought a smile to my face throughout the race. Finishing through the crowd at the end was a great feeling. Many little kids with their hands out waiting for a high-five from an athlete. I hit every one! Was the best part of the event.

  • Comments: I was a little annoyed at not being able to swim in the reservoir before the race and not being able to preview one section of the bike course, but in the end I saw why Ironman events are so popular. The city of Boise was fantastic as well! It was incredibly well organized, the volunteers were extraordinary, the spectators were out in force even in the horrible weather! It was an experience unlike any other, and I would definitely do it again!

  • Comments: I will say the event was extremely well organized and the volunteers were excellent. My hat truly goes off to them...these events could not happen without them. There were even towns people cheering us on out on the very open and sometimes barren bike course...IN THE RAIN!

  • Comments: This race was supposed to be fun for me. It was NOT fun. The wind picked up really bad right before my wave started. The water was choppy and I gave it a go but I couldn't recover even floating so I knew I better pull out before it was an emergency. I rode my bike downtown to pick up my stuff. I was a little upset at first but then the rain just kept coming. I was freezing cold and glad that I wasn't on the course. Live and learn. I'm glad I gave it a shot but am not too disappointed because I really didn't spend hours in training for this race. So I'm out the $200 bucks. I'm scoping out a 70.3 in August. I think I'm DONE with cold water swims too. They are just miserable.

  • Comments: Boise is REALLY a great city (my 1st time there). The race was well organized, the people in Boise are SUPER FRIENDLY! There were a TON of volunteers! The downside... 2pm start, and weather!

  • Comments: Overall realy good organization, awsome vollunteers, have never seen better. Wonderful water, gator aid, gel, etc support, never seen better. The course itself was awsome, I would totaly love to come back and do it wihtout the rain some day. The late start which invites wind, poor access to the starting point (unless you purchase your $$ shuttle ticket from them) rain and funky wave starts were negatives for me. Starting around slot 1400 on the swim and ending up at 441 overal meant I had to pass alot of folks. The late start makes them have the screwy wave order. It caused more congestion than was needed through the entire course. From the very start of the swim to the very end of the run there were folks that I was passing. I mean it felt good to be moving up in the ranks so to speak, but it meant alot of positioning and moving around folks. I don't think that it physically slowed me down much, it just meant there was no time to settle into a position in the pack at your pace

  • Comments: I was shooting for a sub 5 finish in this race after pulling a 5:10:01 at IM Cali in April, but it just wasn't in the cards. It was within reach but I just couldn't get the job done on this day/under these conditions. I will definitely be doing this race again, hopefully in dry conditions. I know I could pull a PR/sub 5 out of this one on a dry day. The city is great, the fan support was amazing and the volunteers are top notch. A fantastic 70.3 race - I'd highly recommend it to anyone. It was also great to meet up with the BTers for dinner the day before. One additional note is that I'm not so sure they have all the kinks worked out of the Garmin 310XT. Mine was on the entire race, then after I crossed the line I turned it off. That's the last time it ever worked. It won't power up now - the Garmin splash screen flashes and it shuts off instantly. When connected to the charger it just constantly restarts. Not quite as H2O proof as they had hoped, I suspect.

  • Comments: Volunteers were EXCELLENT!!! Lots of people on the course. Boise is a great city! Cops even said they would turn their head while we drank a beer on the street after finishing. Awesome event. Too bad we had a the equivillent of a years worth of Boise rain fall in one day.

  • Comments: Being that this was my first half Ironman I was very pleased with my race. Learned some valuable lessons, but stayed tough in hard conditions.
