  • Comments: My overall goal for this race was breaking 6 hours although based on my workouts that was a rather conservative goal but I decided to err on the side of caution. I'm satisfied with this result as validation for the training I conducted during my first season as a triathlete. Now is back to the drawing board to look for ways to train better and continue to become a smarter and faster competitor. For next year I'm looking into attempting to break 5:20 at White Lake and then based on the results from that race either sign for the full Ironman at B2B or race the half again.

  • Comments: Great race. I am just iffy that it is so late in the year because it seems like the weather is a bit of a gamble although it turned out perfect for us on the day.

  • Comments: This was a P.R. for me- of course it was my first tri. I've heard this before but for me the race was the icing on the cake. The journey that got me here brings so many memories to mind that make me smile. It's good to challenge yourself.

  • Comments: For the first time out, SetUp Events did a great job with the logistics of this race. The only issue was the wait for the water taxi to get back to the mainland after the race. I have faith that SetUp will straighten that out for next year. Otherwise, it was a top-notch event.

  • Comments: Great race! The only complaint was transportation to and from the Battleship. Standing in line for 1.5+ hours waiting for a water taxi is ridiculous. They'll have to figure something else out for next year. Other than that, it was a blast.

  • Comments: Some thoughts: The course is perfect and the race organizers really knocked themselves out to make the debut a success. Mission accomplished. The point to point nature of the event clearly made for a logistical headache and they'll have to work that out, hopefully before next year, because I am planning to come back and do it again. A few more buoys on the swim, another aid station on the bike, and some more water taxis and they'll have a stone classic event.

  • Comments: I PR'd for this distance, but considering how fast the swim was it should have been better. My wife was the volunteer coordinator for this race, she has been working on this race for the last year, and I thought it showed, the volunteers were great. I went over to the convention center and picked her up and we went back to cheer on our tri-club people that were doing the full. The last one came in at about 11:30 or so. I think that this will be my last 1/2, I don't really enjoy training for the distance and mentally I just can't keep my head in the game for that long.

  • Comments: The only glitch to this race was the water taxi. I spent more time in line for it than it took to run the 13.1 miles. Other than that, I can't say anything negative about this race. The volunteers were outstanding. There were so many teenagers on the run course on their saturday and they were all cheering loudly for us. They had beer available afterwards. In my family that alone is a reason to run the race again :) Overall I would recomend this race. Will be signing up for next year on 12/1/2008 when sign up starts.

  • Comments: This race was run in a totally awesome and professional manner. Kudos to Set-Up Events. There was a little logistical problem getting across the river with two water taxis and long lines. this really stood out to me because, being at the race alone, I had to go through these lines 3 times.

  • Comments: This race is definetly a possibility for next year depending on how much training I can get in. I really, really want to do it again we'll just have to see. It was very well run and the volunteers were out of this world. Kudos to Setup and Wilmington for an Excellent race!
