  • Comments: I wouldn't do the race again. It was cheaper than most Olympic races, but a few drawbacks. 1) Turns out some sort of Christian organization puts the race together. No indication of this on the website, but we had a prayer before the race started and there's a biblical passage on the race t-shirts (which we didn't keep). 2) Fact that the kayaker couldn't direct me to the buoy during the swim wasn't very helpful. 3) Who puts a water stop on a steep hill during the bike?

  • Comments: Good local event. They had a Sprint Tri (113 participants) and an Off-Road tri (159 participants) at the same time, so total participation was around 411 people. Lake swim was great although visibility in the water was very poor. They had a nice little BBQ post race, with hamburgers and hot dogs along with chips. Was pretty well organized. I'll likely do this one again in the fall...see how my times compare!

  • Comments: This is the 4th time I've done this event. It seems they are getting a little cheaper every time. I really like this race because it is a great course and close to my home. The transition area was a joke, bikes everywhere, not enough racks. It didn't look like there were any sponsors. Maybe the small turnout was caused by the poor weather.

  • Comments: I like this race, it's close to home. My wife did the sprint, so it was fun do the race together. Didn't meet my goal of 3 hrs. Only met my goal on the run and transitions.

  • Comments: Good race. Well organized. Would like more than water at the aid stations. Will do again next year and also will do the fall race in November.

  • Comments: A good event. What makes it so are the people. I have never had more encouragement anywhere for anything I have done as I do in triathlon. It's amazing. I always get to a point in a race where I feel like shit and think what the HELL am I doing to myself and now I'm thinking about what's on my schedule this year when someone pops up with a smile to make it all better. Well maybe not all better but that simple thing can change your attitude and that's when things change. Everyone has a "good job" or "way to go" and even finishing DFL - which I don't really care that much about - everyone made sure I had something to eat and drink. Dave even got me free schwag that I would have otherwise missed since they were packing it in. Hats off to you my triathlete friends. I'm honored to be a part of this.

  • Comments: You BT people helped me more than you know. Although I don't post a lot, I read so many posts helping me navigate many triathlon issues and you guys did solve my foot problems on the bike. It's so nice to have you all as my teammates. I've never been in a sport where I have so many teammates and no opposition.

  • Comments: I love these small races and would return to do this one again next year. I rather like the fact that this race is not USAT sanctioned because I can go do it as a tuneup and not worry about how it will affect my standings. This will make a great followup to Wildflower next year.

  • Comments: This was a fantastic race for me and I loved the layout of the course. Flat and fun...with some sweet style downhills. What more could you ask for?? And it was small which was nice...hopefully I will get to do it again next year.

  • Comments: Old school atmosphere. I liked the prayer and national anthem to start the race because it was different. Made me feel like I was back in high school before a big league game or something... Wish they had a drink sponsor. Post race drink was water. Run course not marked too well. Great police in intersections! Nice marine volunteers! Amazing views!

  • Comments: This is a funky, friendly little race, with a nice BBQ afterward. I thought it was just lovely, with gorgeous views, a wonderful course/venue (even being a tri-and-a-half-thlon) and I would happily do it again. The volunteers were plentiful and encouraging, and the cops did a pretty good job of patrolling intersections on an open bike leg.
