  • Comments: Fantastic race, only negatives were difficulty getting water at times in aid stations and continue to run due to too few volunteers. Asphalt in Indiana can be horrible so had to keep eyes on the road

  • Comments: I've done this Indy race twice now. It is incredibly flat and a beautiful course for most of the way with fall foliage. It is well-organized, easy to access, and a fun town. My only complaint is there is a stretch that is pretty depressing around 19-21. The roads are also a little rough and you really need to watch your step.

  • Comments: This was my first marathon ever (although I've run many halves). It was a flat and beautiful course, well organized race with plenty of water stations and volunteers. The mile markers were pretty accurate so I had a good sense of my pace the whole way through. And Indy residents supported us in many neighborhoods, which made it extra fun. Great first marathon!

  • Comments: Nice race. Flat and fast with perfect weather. You get to set in the heated convention center on comfy seats until about 20 minutes before the start. The corral system even worked ! There were no delays for people waking up front. The scenery is pretty good, too with nice neighborhoods, Butler U., a couple of parks, and downtown sites like the state house and Lucas oil stadium. I will definitely do this again. Hopefully to qualify for Boston!

  • Comments: There was not as much crowd support and entertainment as at the Flying Pig. The course is flatter and would be great in less windy conditions. Nice homes to run by on Washington, and the Downtown part, Art Museum, and Monument parts are great. Really a nice finish too, in front of the Capitol. Traffic is much more dicey, as cars were sometimes darting through. They were lined up deep at many intersections.

  • Comments: I was very thankful for the support of the event medical staff at the end of the race. They were there for a couple of people that had it worse than I did. I was glad to have someone to grab a banana for me and offer me "mustard" for my recovery. I passed on the mustard, although I have heard it is an excellent recovery "food???" "Beverage???"

  • Comments: It was a well run race, and this is only the third year. I think this will become a very popular race in the future because of the time of the year. Pretty much perfect marathon weather.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed my experience. The Monumental Marathon was a great, organized event!! The volunteers were wonderful and supportive. I was pleasantly surprised at the crowd support. It was very cold. To see people out there in their coats and hats cheering for us was a wonderful feeling. The police did an excellent job with traffic control and protecting the runners. Overall, this was a great race. I'd do it again.

  • Comments: Knocked 15min off my 1st mary so can't complain too much. Aid stations well-marked & stocked as advertised on pre-race maps. Many bands & DJ's along route. Lots of cheering fans. Enthusiastic volunteers at aid stations. EXCELLENT police support by Indianapolis PD & Marion Co Sheriffs. VERY well-run event. Fast field! Winner was 2:17 & my AG winner was 2:59.

  • Comments: This was the first year of the Monumental Marathon (there's another Indianapolis marathon away from the city center). Overall they did a great job with organization. There were ~ 20 aid stations all stocked well and the course was very nice. No pre-race expo, but I'm perfectly fine with that.

  • Comments: This is one of the best half marathons I have ever done. Well organized, lot's of fluid stops, nice course with plenty of help. After the split of the marathoners and halver's, the course was wide open. This is way better than the Indy Mini and I would recommend it to anyone thinking about doing either the half or the full marathon. One suggestion would be for the organizers to put signs on poles in the staging area for mile paces so people can line up better according to pace. There was a couple pacers holding signs for marathon finishing times, but mile pace signs at the staging areas would help and would be applicable to both the half and full marathoners. And extra reminders for walkers to stage in the rear. In the first two miles I was kind of surprised how many walkers were out in front of me.
