  • Comments: I have never had a race where I saw so few people on the course. Other than the two guys I mentioned above, I nidn't pass anyone and was never passed. I guess that what happens when you are having a great race and you are near the front!

  • Comments: A couple of intersections this year were a little un-nerving. I had to stop at a four way and hope I was OK to go. Volenteers were not controlling traffic. The weather played more of a roll then I expected. I was dead asleep by 8:30 that night and my weight has fluctuated all week - I think trying to rehydrate correctly and rebuild.

  • Comments: The 86 year old finisher certainly had me emotional at the end. she was so little and cute...determined and positive. This was a fun way to exercise today...the race is run well. lots of donkey jersey comments - someone asked if we're a political group. ha! one lovely biatch asked if we were jack-asses. fun day!

  • Comments: As always, this was a GREAT, well-run race. My only complaint is the flimsy, unstable bike racks in transition that collapsed and resulted in my beautiful bike getting a couple of nasty gashes in the paint. I'm really not happy about that at all and it really put a damper on the day.

  • Comments: I really enjoy this race and it is definitely for a good cause. It is well run, close to home and has a very intimate feel to it - not to mention some of the best food.

  • Comments: Final result: JoeRunner...by 38 seconds. Just wait until next year... Seriously I enjoyed the challenge of this course, but especially enjoyed spending time with my friends. There is a very good chance that this gem of a race will be on my list for next year. I just hope it is a little cooler.

  • Comments: Nice venue, smaller race feel and there are usually some fasties that do this traditionally. Recommend checking it out if you want a more challenging sprint course and the proceeds go the the Boys and Girls Club. Good times!

  • Comments: Could have used just one more water station on the run. Post race food was inside. Fewer bugs than last year which was nice. Way too warm inside.

  • Comments: Despite my disappointing performance, I've grown to really love all the quirky things that make this race unique-- the silty swim, the two transitions, the hilly bike and the three-part run. This is one race I'll try to do every year. I hope Charles feels the same way. :)

  • Comments: Great overall race for me on this course. This race has its quirks, with the silty lake and longer bike course, but I've really grown to like it. I thought I handled the quirks and high humidity well, too. I hope this bodes well for my Oly at Pleasant Prairie next week. In reviewing my results, I also saw out of 36 in my age group I finished 16th in the swim, 15th in the bike, 13 in the run. At least I'm a well-balanced triathlete. I think I need to focus on my swim and bike in the off-season.

  • Comments: First, the excuses: This wasn't an 'A' race for me and I didn't taper at all, I was fighting off a cold I picked up from the kids on Friday, and I got MAYBE 4 hours of sleep the night before the race. OK, now the reality. I've got to improve my bike training in the off-season and (don't tell my wife) but I really need to get a tri-bike to be able to go aero. The fact is, I can no longer think that biking is my strength when I'm hemorrhaging time on this leg. My swim is OK, considering how little I train for it (comparatively). And I have to push myself harder on the run, because I know I'm faster than how I am performing lately. I just have to trust that I have enough juice in the legs to go out at a faster pace, instead of being so conservative and saving too much for the final stretch.

  • Comments: Good race, cool venue, challenging course relative to some of the pancakes out there. Will be back again. I didnt hit my goal to lop off 15 minutes, but got about 12 of em and have some easy stuff to improve on. I was shocked to have gotten hardware with that donkey paced swim, but work on the run and bike can cover up some of that it seems. Still lots of work to go...

  • Comments: This was a really nice race. The venue is really nice, the lake isnt a bad swim once you get beyond the weeds, the bike is a very challenging course and the run is a nice too. I would recommend this race. It reminds me of the BIGFOOT race at Lake Geneva. I think I will put this on the calendar for next year.

  • Comments: I will definitely be back next year and hope to improve on my first performance. Everything is centrally located, transition areas close and liked the mix of paved and trail running. Beautiful course.
