  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: It's an Ironman so it's going to be hard. The bike is monstrous even without obscenely hot or cold weather. The run is fine, assuming you're not slagged. The location and everything that goes along with the race is top notch. I will try again one day.

  • Comments: I like this area for an IM race. Very challenging and would like to do it again. For my next year's race(s), I would like to try something different. Thinking of heading back for IMC Whistler in 2016 or 2017.

  • Comments: I was disappointed in the post race food. Not very good pizza and NO chocolate milk. The volunteers were amazing. The race was very well run, and very organized. With T1 and the swim start away from the village and T2 I thought there might be delays, but there were none. The shuttles were quick and efficient.

  • Comments: I had obsessed over the terrain, the training, the weather, the new venue, everything. But this was an absolutely first class race from start to finish. Everything went so smoothly, like tey had been doing it for years. Local support was awesome, the crowds were awesome, aid stations well staffed and stocked, GORGEOUS course, I really could not have asked for anything more even with the run issues. I would definitely come back and do this race again. And I might.... _________________________\ Post race info We stay din Whistler until Tuesday. Monday went to Scandinave Spa (ask for the IM discount) massage and hot /cold pools. Another breakfast at Wild Wood, and one at Crepe Montagne (nutella crepe!) . Dinner at Old Spaghetti Factory. Meh, I am not above a good spaghetti meal, but this was just watery and not very god. I suppose after a day of skiing, most anything tastes good. Tuesday drove down to Pemberton and drove Wendy on part of the course. Had a fantastic

  • Comments: Wow, Ironman #7 is done!!! Ironman is a crazy thing, it draws some to it and causes others to stand in awe. For those of us who race Ironman, there is something in our soul, in our spirit that says "yes, YOU can do this!" There is a need and a desire that can only be quenched by the Ironman finish line. I AM AN IRONMAN, it is not something I do, but part of who I am. There is a special bond among us that are part of the Ironman family, not one of superiority but one of respect and a common thread of understanding what it takes to get to the finish line. If you managed to read all of this, I'm impressed! I would like to thank my family, you may never understand why I race long, but you support my choice of insanity. To my computrainer class, group suffering rocks! To coach Neil and Felicity at TriMore Fitness, thanks for making class fun and for letting us race IM Canada on the screen during class. To so many of you that have followed my training and life online, your support

  • Comments: The volunteers and course were excellent. Pre-race and post race were okay but not too amazing. They ran out of swag bags and pizza which left a bad first and last impression on me. Love the course and glad that Challenge will be stewarding it.

  • Comments: Previous participants told me that this was a great race; from the course, to the volunteers to the spectators/local residents. I was not disappointed. The final run to the finish was amazing, never thought I would hear a crowd roar for me. I hope Challenge keeps up the atmosphere of the race as that what really makes this special. I would race this course again.

  • Comments: Too bad this is the last IMC in Penticton. Looking forward to seeing where it will be next year. The Challenge group will host a Ironman distance race in Penticton next year. I am tempted to sign up when it becomes available because I know I do much better. Sub 12 hours is in my reach!

  • Comments: Great race, already chomping at the bit to have another go, but with the little kids this will be the last IM for 2-3 years. I will use the time to get faster at running and work on some short course bike. I would love to hit 10:59 next time. Went for a 5k run on Friday, and an 9k run on Sat. Totally flat speedwise but I feel good. Legs are still sore so I'm still taking it easy for the next week or so. Haven't hopped on a scale since race day - hope it's not too bad. This was an awesome race. In a perfect world, I might have run down an 11:30 or so but whatever, it is what it is and I'm ok with everything. And the day was HARD so no matter if it was a 9:00 or a 16:59 everyone paid their dues. I can't WAIT to be back.

  • Comments: Awesome volunteers everywhere. Great, great race. heard they ran out of water at a few aid stations on the bike. I think that is due to them throwing PERFORM at us instead of gatorade. PERFORM wasn't available up here until a month or so before the race. So I believe everyone was taking water on the bike.

  • Comments: Absolutely great fans and greater volunteers, and the course was absolutely amazing. My catcher and T2 assitant were great.! Organizationally there were some issues however. Running out of water on three aid station on the bike was pretty unacepatble (especially since there were 800 or so more behind me) and I did notice that the volunteers were filling up water jugs from the lake on the run at several aid stations on the lake. Don't think that was supposed to happen. There were a ton of ambulences on course for bike wrecks and heat related issues on the run, and those folks were outstanding as well. It was a rough day and I hear there were over 500 DNFs. Not that the Race director can control the weather. Medal wasn't as cool as some of the IM Canada onces I've seen from previous years, and not along of swag for $650. All that said the race really was spectacle and a very cool event to have been a part of. The course is breathtaking in many ways, the lakes are beautiful

  • Comments: canada is the best. hands down. i am signed up for lake placid next year, and really hope that LP can compare to the beauty of canada. love this race, and i will be back. erin had an amazing race, and finished in 11:43 for her first ironman and WON her AGE GROUP. which means.........KONA. in her first attempt. are. you. serious. she took her slot (even tho its in 6 weeks) and we are so happy. we both qualified for vegas champs (she wont race now tho) so between the two of us, we are both competing in the world championships. 70.3 and ironman. dream come true also, jordan rapp gave one of the BEST speeches i have ever had the pleasure of hearing at the awards banquet.see link below: http://www.slowtwitch.com/Opinion/Rapp_on_the_dais_2296.html

  • Comments: I'm disappointed with my execution but at the same time ecstatic that I finished and pushed though to the end. Sadly, I think I've got the bug now and might have to do a few more of these things. What can I say - if it was easy they wouldn't call it Ironman. But you already knew that :-)

  • Comments: It's weird, but this race felt really, really commercialized in comparison with Coeur d'Alene. Trevor and I got kinda disgusted with Lisa Bentley saying Suburu as every second word in her speech, that we left the banquet early. The banquet was all vegetarian (although not all vegan), and I was looking for some meat and good desserts. The CDA banquet was better. Apparently, the organizers ran out of water on the bike and, maybe even, on the run. The Ironman Canada gear prices were extreme!!! They didn't stock up on enough of the nice bike jackets, so by the time I got there (and I was close to the front) you had to order them. One person said it takes forever, so I got a couple of things that were there. The volunteers were fantastic! My flip-flops were in my bag, my catchers were cautious and helpful and the aid station crews were great. The traffic ladies were fantastic and had really strong loud voices. Those 2 ladies ran a tight ship. My at-home cheering section totally
