  • Comments: It was a great race. Aid stations, volunteers, organizers, locals, and crowd, everything was perfect. It was a great first Ironman and in a couple years (with a couple more years of base since this is my second season of any type of endurance sports) I look forward to trying another and seeing what time I can do with a bit of experience.

  • Comments: they ran out of water during the bike - not sure I ever did have really fresh water. the first few stations had NO water. then, they were handing out small bottles without caps - someone said they were recycled bottles they had filled from a hose.

  • Comments: Phenomenal race. I will return, without a question. Pre-race banquet was expensive for family. Volunteers and organization was exceptional. This is truly a premiere race event and I would recommend it to anyone. Single loops were great, and the bike and run courses were scenic and fun. Penticton is very supportive of the event and the spectators are awesome. My biggest negative comment is that the town is certainly gouging the athletes - minimum 5 night stay at $250 / night. I am itching to come back, but even for a road trip from Calgary, this is a very expensive trip.

  • Comments: I think Ironman Canada stands out among the many other options for Full IM. The history of the event and the single lap courses are very good. The mountain passes are not as big of a deal as all the hype. That could probably be said about the Full Ironman event in general. Glad I did it, and it is tough... but not quite as difficult as expected. Originally I thought it would take about 12 hours to complete. So I was happy with 11:09.

  • Comments: This was such an amazing event! There were many "firsts" for me - first full Ironman, first full marathon, first IMC, etc. It was great that the names were on the race bibs. I felt I had thousands of fans cheering me on, and I did! The volunteers? Incredible! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Cannot state that enough. Am I a "one time Ironman finisher"? NOT! I will do this race again and will try other full Ironman distance races in the future, near future I hope.

  • Comments: This was my first Ironman race and a very enjoyable time.. everything went as good as expected dispite the very windy conditions during the ride and run and my very painfull knees.. I definatly could do better at this with some improvements to conditions and better knees... Overall a great experience!!

  • Comments: This is the last Ironman Canada I'll do for some time. I've now done three and it is time to move on to some other challenges and take a year focussing a little less on training and more on family. I am very happy by the results. I am also thrilled by the "mantrip" that Highwaydog and I had. It was a super experience, one that absolutely made this a great race that I will not soon forget. I am a 3X Ironman and The Chipgiver! p.s. Olga and Svetlana left the day after the race without incident or further graphic imagery.

  • Comments: I am happy with my first IMC. I definitely want to do another one, but there are other things (like my master`s degree) that have to be looked after first though. I had a wonderful day, spent the entire day smiling and talking to people, and other than some rough parts on the bike, can say I enjoyed every minute of it. I am an Ironman and that is pretty awesome!

  • Comments: I can easily say this was the best experience of my life. I had a dream of doing Ironman 5 years ago when I completed my first half marathon. After 2 marathons, 3 half ironmans and countless other races, I really did not think this goal could have been achieved so quickly! A lot of supportive people (Mom, Dad, Matt, and of course Krista) and a lot of good mentor's (Brendan, Nick, Lane, John M, Doug Mackenzie). Honestly can say I would never have been able to do this without the insight and knowledge they provided! I don't know if you can duplicate the feeling of crossing that line. It truly was a privilege to have that much fun at Ironman!

  • Comments: This race will make you feel like a champion whether you finish in 8:45 or 16:59. The main drag is packed and every town you go through on the bike and run has its own little party going on and there are 4500 volunteers for 3000 competitors. Amazing experience.

  • Comments: The support of town, volunteers and spectators was fantastic. This is a very well run race and many of the volunteers have been helping for years. Penticton is great venue, easy for spectators to get around as most roads stay open, wonderful beaches and my family enjoyed our time there. The wide range in temperatures makes it harder to predict what weather might be like. The following Sunday, the week after IM high was 65.

  • Comments: My first Ironman. My second triathlon. Truly an amazing day. So much going on, next time I will have a better mental picture of what to expect. This time it was to much of the unknow. I think I can easily shave 2 hours off my time, if not more. Next year is the Goofy Challenge, then I am running across Canada in a marathon a day.

  • Comments: IRONMAN CANADA – Ann S. (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run) August 31, 2009 Must have coffee or wine or something. It is my epic novel again. No short versions here!!Yes, it almost took me as long to write as the race it's self. I hope you enjoy. Thanks..... Just like an awards ceremony...there are a few thanks before reading..... Thanks to the most awesome supportive husband ever - Steve. I admit it, I am spoiled. He cooked, cleaned, grocery shopped and did laundry by himself for the last 8 months...and NEVER complained. He was with me every step of the way. Thanks to coach Cheryl for a wonderful plan that got me to the start line and finish line. It was perfect. I believed in my training, trusted in Cheryl and did everything asked. I think I missed

  • Comments: The whole Ironman experience was INCREDIBLE and YES it is a life changing experience. IM Canada and Penticton put on a FANTASTIC event with over 4000 incredible volunteers....as a race director myself...I can't thank the volunteers enough for how incredible they were. Throughout this last year of training there have been challenges and sacrifices. There have been so many great training sessions....and a lot of tough ones. There were friends and family who were so supportive...and some who didn't "get it". There were times when I wondered if I would be able to handle it all. Now that it's all done....I realize I wouldn't have changed a single thing....it was all worth it. I used to wonder what all the fuss was about doing Ironman...and now that I AM AN IRONMAN...."I GET IT!" It's almost like magic....AND IT'S ALL WORTH IT! Oh ya...and I signed up for next year! :)

  • Comments: WOW!!! What an experience! Amazing! I am still on such a high and its days later! It was such a tough day but I loved every minute! Having my great and wonderful Wife there made it truly special. And the fact that I could share it with her, and my parents and sister was great. The crowds and volunteers truly make this the best race ever....ever!

  • Comments: My third Ironman Canada race and my most disappointing one, the only thing I can do is think about how my stomach issues dealt me an unfair deal, I had wanted to push to try to go low 12's but there was just to much going on down there to let it happen, I did however finish and that is something that I can be proud off, I had a rough day, the hardest one I have ever had racing in over 10 years, it is a learning experience and one I can put in the bank for next year as yes I have signed up for 2010.

  • Comments: 4000 volunteers. Had to get that in somewhere. I'm writing this the night after the race. It was one of my worst experiences - during the run and one of my best experiences, during the run. I felt a little like I did during the tail end of my first ever century in my early 20s or my 30 day hiking trip though the Appalachians before that. I felt like I had bitten off more than I could chew. Like I should stick to short distances only. But I also felt great about my swim and my ride and my transitions and saw through them a bit of hope for improving myself further - when I start focusing on my run. Because of the terrible weather in Regina all winter, spring and summer, I focused, perhaps a little too much on swimming and biking. The results certainly showed themselves. I could have pushed a little harder on the run. The little voice made me walk, perhaps more than I should have. But I never lost faith - although I questioned why I signed up again for next year! This was a
