  • Comments: This was a very fun race and a great place to set a PR. The race was extremely well supported and they gave out great swag! I hope to do it again in the future.

  • Comments: Great race, weather, and run with a huge PR! Did this same race last year at 1:42:48 so I cut almost 7 and a half minutes of off last year's time. I've done this race the last 3 years and each time it's been a great experience. It is well organized, with plenty of volunteers and fan support. Great atmosphere and post race scene as well as the finish is on the boardwalk/beach!

  • Comments: Perfect weather to run in, 30 degrees and no wind. There was a group of 5 that completed the half and all set prs. One did the full marathon and did better than he was expecting. Great weekend for all of us! This is my third year going to VA Beach for the marathon or half marathon and plan on continuing the tradition. It is a great course and fun way to begin each season.

  • Comments: DRIVING HOME FROM VIRGINIA BEACH CAN KISS MY A$$. 2nd year in a row there has been an accident trying to go through the tunnel traffic stopped. Passed 3-4 accidents on 64 and last 20 miles of 64 were driven at 5 miles because they were doing road construction and had a lane closed... Last year took 6 hours to get home, same as this year. Ok, I feel better now after ranting. The race is great, the town rolls out the red carpet for racers, they have people handing out beer in the last few miles, if I wasn't so close to my goal I would have grabbed some. Lots of volunteers and spectators out on the course cheering people on.

  • Comments: This is my favorite race and I want to do it every year...I'll skip the RnR 1/2 over Labor Day-that is a heat death march of Hell. I'll take cold and frosty any day. Whoohhooo!

  • Comments: One water station was out of commission because the fire hydrant wasnt working, but it was so cold today that I didn't need it. Post race party was great- Huge tent, bands, they give you 4 beer tickets and I am proud to announce I drank all 4:)

  • Comments: Great, organized race. Did the Marathon in 07 and had a great time with that as well. They give out a great shirt, hat and medal as well. Course is flat and fast and finish on the boardwalk at the beach.

  • Comments: I love the turnout of races like this. I love the atmosphere of lots of people. The coral in the beginning was a joke. It was so disorganized, I saw tons of people just jumping in where they could. Including me. Kudos to the volunteers standing out in the cold. They weren't running, so I'm sure it was miserable. I wish there were more music on the course. I never run with an ipod, so the musical distraction was nice. Pretty course. Pretty flat. Fun atmosphere. Line for the food and beer tent was enormous! Oh, and what was the deal with the swag bags? I got a lonely little power bar in mine when I finished. Nothing else. I saw other bags with tons more yummies. Luck of the draw I guess. The hamrock hat was nice at the end. And the finishers medals were really cool! I like medals. You don't get cool shiny things for 5-Ks. (Money doesn't count. I'm slow.)

  • Comments: Great race...although the weather was cold and windy at the start, it was fine once I was warmed up and running a bit off the water. Very well organized with plenty of aid/water stations and a well organized finish area. Plus, they posted the race results within hours!

  • Comments: This was a great race, and an excellent first 1/2 mary. Lots of volunteers, good spectators, some music, some jokes, some army folks, and nice runners. I had enough room to run without bumping folks, but I never felt lonely.

  • Comments: what's with the A-hole on Saturday not letting people on the beach when the tent party was for friends and family. My gf finally found me and we figured that we could get to the tent via the other entrance on the beach, hence the low organized score. I skipped the party on Sunday for that reason. Our tower of beer cups on Sat was awesome though!
