  • Comments: IMAZ is a great race for the entry of the 140.6 distance and the venue is awesome for spectators. The volunteers are so friendly and helpful that they could be a family member! So many people called me by name when I was running through the aid stations too. The bike and run course is really friendly. I pre-registered for next year and because it sells out so fast, I'm glad I did! I age up next year to 55-59 age division and with the same race I'll be placed much higher. This year I can only think of what might have been, and hope that if it was a simple mistake that can be reconciled next year, I'll have a better race. Overall, this WAS a great race for my first 140.6 distance.

  • Comments: This was a great experience and i couldn't have asked for a better week. WTC gets a lot of criticism but they sure know hoe to put on a race. Will definitely be back at an IMAZ in the future.

  • Comments: This was my first Ironman race and it was everything I thought it would be. The volunteers were absolutely amazing! Ironman throws a great event. Everything was organized and went together perfectly. The run course is about as spectator friendly as you can get - which is great. Thank you so much to the city of Tempe, all of the volunteers, and to the Ironman foundation - you guys did a great job with IMAZ.

  • Comments: First time Ironman. Really happy with my results given the fact I was only able to get about 60% of the training done. We had our first child 6 months out from race day and I wouldn't have been able to do what I did without my wife picking up all the slack. It's very difficult to train with a new family member, but definitely possible with the correct support.

  • Comments: Very happy for my first full iron. Nothing like that finisher's chute. I learned a lot and think I could easily get into the high 10, low 11 hour range with some better training coming in.

  • Comments: This is a WTC supported Ironman race - the best supported and most organized races in the world. No complains about the venue, support, or volunteers. They make this race a huge success, regardless of performance or individual results.

  • Comments: Just can't say enough about the volunteers and the spectators- all the energy they give to random strangers is amazing! We all really looked forward to the aid stations with their crazy costumes and music, and the transition workers were like gentle nannies for us "special needs" children who were always lost and confused. Everyone seemed invested in helping us have a good race. What a day!

  • Comments: I have to admit to being a little dissappointed with my run since the run is usually the stonger event for me. After the swim, I was 51st in my age group; after the bike I was 79th and after the run I was 81st. So all day I lost places. Overall, however, I am happy because I took about 6 minutes off my time from Florida. A PR is a PR, no matter how you get it.

  • Comments: WTC races are not cheap to participate, but they definitely earn their money with the organization, support, perks and race execution. 2011 was my introduction to full Ironman distance, 2012 was my first effort at true performance, and I am looking forward to 2013 and a return to IM Arizona to try and hit my next set of goals (sub 11 hour finish).

  • Comments: Loved this race! First IM branded race, and it did not disappoint. I had a great day and even though I came in over my goal, I had a great race and was over 1.5 hours better than Vineman last year. I'll get under 13 hours next time.

  • Comments: I'll try to keep it short. This was a tough race, but at the same time, I have to consider it a success. It started a year ago when I signed up for it (my fourth IM) and just was not sure about it. THEN I had to get thyroid surgery due to thyroid cancer and the follow up radiation treatments. Neither of those were too tough to deal with, but the resulting hormon embalance was. I could never feel "right" all year. Now, I COULD have gotten past that feeling of "not right" by sheer determination and drive, but the problem was, I was lacking that as well. To be honest, this being my forth, I just didn't have the drive/desire I did in previous races. I didn't have anything to prove and the drive to complete it when I have completed 3 prior just wasn't there. I ended up doing minimal training to "just get by" and it cost me. I'm a bit disappointed of my time, which was 2.5 hours slower than the previous year on the same course. My bike was 3 mph slower, my marathon was 80 minutes

  • Comments: Immediately following the race I told my wife that I was "One and Done" with Ironman racing. Now that a week has past. I am considering a return to IMAZ in 2014 to actually race the entire day.

  • Comments: This venue is FANTASTIC!!! So many terrific volunteers and spectators. My vote for the best sign was on loop 2 of the run, it said "Charlie Sheehan says you are winning" I was LMAO at this...just when I needed a laugh! Although the idea of biking and running in loops seems boring, its great to see so many people. You feel like a rockstar all day long. In fact I will be back to do it again in 2013!!!!

  • Comments: Great experience...I did ChesapeakeMan 140.6 last year but doing an Ironman event is so different, the finish is a feeling I will never forget and can't wait to get that feeling again (hopefully at IM Florida 2013). meeting all the BTers was Awesome, especially since I came down alone. So meeting new people was def a highlight. Great race. It was everything I expected

  • Comments: Despite my poor preparation - I truly loved this experience. I loved being a part of the race, the pre-race activities, and especially having Tony with me. I'll definitely do another IM distance (and already thinking of which one) but I will make SURE that I follow the training plan to the letter. Congrats to everyone!!!
