Race Reports for Lake Stevens Olympic Triathlon 2009

Comments: Course was good. I would like to to see the race promotor put some more money back into the particpants.I dont care to much about swag or giveaways, I would like to see more bouys for the swim course, milage markers on the run for the people still running with a watch for splits, and more volunteers (some water stations only had 1 person). She was doing a great job but overwhelmed by all the demands of hundreds of fatigued people. Will do this race again since its so close to home and had a great time but I feel Chelanman has become my standard of a great Tri- and would like to see more follow thier lead. Overall had a great time and hope BUDU is @ Lake Stevens next year.

Comments: Having a working mega-phone at the beginning of the race is helpful. "Not mentioning" the (12 miles of) hills killed the race for me and everyone I talked to. Not enough water or aid stations. Lame post race party. I could have done a better job.

Comments: Not a good organization. It is like they charge just as much as other events and pocket more money! No swag, terrible aid station, and food at the finish was minimal. I could even find a water when I was done! GHETTO! I would understand it is was paying less money, but it is comparable to other events around here, so I would expect the same amount of organization! I wasn't impressed (and this was the 2nd time I raced one of their events--- The other one sucked as well!).

Comments: I want to love it because it's so close to home. I gave it a 4 because parking wasn't as bad as I thought it might be, the swim course was average (a yellow buoy AND a yellow canoe in the same general area, come on! - not to mention the difficult footing at the boat ramp at the end) the bike course was OK - road conditions can't be blamed on the organizers, the run was good. The water at the finish, not so good. 3 containers of HEED (too sugary) and 1 of water. There were times when we had to wait for water to be brought & then they ran out of water cups and had to find a new supply. Probably normal, but I'm a newb and the few races I've been to that had plenty of water bottles at the finish didn't have this problem. After reading others' comments, revised down to a '3' - this is only my 4th tri, so my experience seems to be with marginal events - I hope to race more well-organized events next year.
