  • Comments: Overall, a great venue and fun race. The heat will def. play and factor as well as the headwind on the bike. I always wanted to do this race and I'm glad I did. I def would recommend this race to everyone. Unfortunately I like to try new ironman70.3 venues so I prob will not choose to do this race again in the future.

  • Comments: I LOVE how represented the Latin community was in this race! It's a one of kind experience, I'm sure. I met people from Brazil, Venezuela, Spain, Colombia (my favorite because my parents were born there)! I thought the race needed more volunteers. I think the course was a bit boring. With this race being in Florida I thought there were other places that would have been much nicer to race through. Highway 27 was boring and running over that danged MacArthur Causeway bridge was terrible. I did enjoy myself, however, I do not think I will do this race again. The best part of the race....I PR'D! 2 minutes faster thank my Racine HIM time! So, this definitely made the race for me!

  • Comments: Fun race, glad I did it. not sure I'd go back. Plenty of other races to do. But now I have the sub 5 fever! I didn't know my total time until about a half hour after finishing. 7 minutes... A speedsuit probably gets me a couple of those, maybe 1 or 2 on the bike, and 3-4 on the run? Maybe.... Definitely my 2014 goal

  • Comments: For my first Ironman, this was an amazing event. I met Leanda Cave, the 2012 Ironman World Champion and she also won this event. I had my wife, brother and friend Dudley there to support me and the overwhelming support from my friends around the world on facebook made it all worth it. I'm looking forward to next year, hoping I can do a sub 6 hour time.

  • Comments: I heard this race was horrible in 2010 or whenever the first year was. This was year #3, and it was great. Volunteers were great, race officials were polite / informed. Traffic control was excellent. Swim was organized and memorable. My only suggestion would be to either make the waves larger or go from 4 minutes to 3 minutes between waves to get the people off sooner. Pros took off at like 7:20AM and I didn't begin until 8:39AM. Also - they shut down the store after the race. Poor decision. I would've bought some stuff.

  • Comments: No toilet paper to be found anywhere. No porta potties for triathletes only or in the transition area. Railroad tracks, while covered with mats, were still dangerous. Some potholes while down-town. Boring ride up US 27 but smooth. Windy windy windy (thanks to Hurricane Sandy). Didn't feel like I was sweating much. Very little dripping on my bike or the run. Maybe I shouldn't drink as much; but I was a little thirsty. Bloating was less than first HIM; but still present. Maybe I should take anti-gas (smithecone?) to help with it?

  • Comments: This is the worst-managed race that I've seen as an athlete, a USAT official, or as a volunteer/spectator. Despite WTC's offer of a free 70.3 race entry to athletes who completed this race as an apology for how poorly it played out, I am not sure I would ever consider paying the higher price for an Ironman-brand event in the future. Transition area opened three hours late and was not secured at night (one bike was missing on race day), expo was horrible, event swag was cheapest garbage I've ever seen, and the race managment staff didn't seem to care. The volunteers were visibily frustrated at their inability to deliver for the athletes who were depending on them. • Comments: This was my first "Ironman" branded race and I guess I had high expectations. But their level of organization or lack there of was well short of even minimal expectations. Commedy of errors really... I just feel bad for folks later in the race who ran out of water and didn't have any gels, salt tabs etc out on the run course. I highly doubt this race takes place next year and if so, with same director. Heard they were late with start becuase permits still were not in. Come on, that is crazy. Gave me new appreciation for local races and the quality product they put out. Will be back @ Miami Man next year and regret not doing it for a 3rd year. Sad part is the race venue has so much to offer. It is a great setting for a race and 80 degree water in the fall? Thats awesome. They just need someone who knows what they are doing to lead to show.

  • Comments: As dissapointing as some of the race issues were, overall, I came there determined to finish. For me, all I can control is what is within me. The rest is all part of the race and what makes each race unique. Whether I complain about aid stations, bathrooms, bike racks, water supplies, weather, waves, wind, rain, whatever..... the race is still on. I came to do the best I could and I left feeling satisfied that I had done just that. IFFFFFF some of these things can be corrected including run course layout, I think this race would be awesome. Id like to try and change the bike course to a little less-residential too. But, what am I, a race director? No thanks, Ill just compete.

  • Comments: first the good, then the bad and close with the ugly: 1. THE GOOD: a challenging race, more challenging than expected - even tho this was my first HIM, i could not have planned for THE DAMN BRIDGE. 2. THE BAD: cheap goodies, disorganized, late bike dropoff, not enough bike racks for all, missed any kind of entertainment on the course. 3. THE UGLY: out of supplies on the second water station? C'mon! Someone forgot to build a way to exit the water until the last minute? How about a closed piece of water for practice the days before the race? I give this race an A for challenge, but a D to the organizers.

  • Comments: I give this race a F. the organizers did not have the swim course or the bike course permits approved til the moring of the race which caused the race to start late. the lack of water and fuel on hte course was a joke. I would not do this race again..

  • Comments: So in the end what can I say about a WTC race. I think the race wasn't worth the money. I will gives this to WTC. The race has energy. I think there are so many people on the course at a time. I really did not expect this. My first 70.3 had only 800 people. From this to 2500 is quite a large difference. Onto the race itself there were alot of things that were not thought of well: 1) Expo / Packet Pickup - disorganized, waited in line for 45 min and nobody mentioned anything that the line was for USAT new members 2) Transition was not opened on time, there was a 2 hr delay 3) Transition was not set up and the numbers on the bikes were not setup correctly 4) Race was delayed by about 20 min 5) Since it was a water start the getting into the water was not efficient and thought of 6) Not sufficient buoys on the swim 7) Bike water aid stations had no markings prior 8) Bike water aid stations - had NO WATER!!!!! 9) Run course aid stations had no water What is

  • Comments: To be fair I understand this is a first time even but I give this race a D+. They need to make sure to have enough water, gatorade on the run and bike course and PLEASE have gels, oranges, etc (forgot to mention they did have coke on 2 stations on the run which was great) on the run course. The medal is nice, the T-shirt is pretty ugly and ofcourse they ran out of smalls or mediums. I stil had fun I love every minute of being out there testing my self! the body is a fantastic machine!

  • Comments: The race was in its first year and there were some problems. I am sure it is growing pains and hopefully they'll be able to address those things going forward. They seemed to be winging alot of things like not even being able to tell us where the swim start/finish would be 20 hours before the start. In many spots on the bike & run the course was realy narrow. But I think I would do it again because of the location. Something that amazes me is that this race sold-out but only about 1800 people finished. Granted, maybe there were 200 DNF or DQ but that still leaves maybe 600 that paid & didn't show. That's an expensive entry fee to write off. And how crowded would things have been if 90% showed & started.

  • Comments: Great location BUT first year i give it F. Not enough volunteers for water stations, ran out of water, t shirts were a free for all not enough help to give them to you, no "finisher" hat - I will give them NICE MEDAL. Lastly very dangerous guy pushing people off for swim start on top of other swimmers below. During briefing they didnt even know yet how the swim start/finish was going to go. Tough Challenging course - much tougher than IM Florida FULL!
