  • Comments: Endorfun Sports ran another excellent event. I jockstrapped on Saturday so I got to see both days. There was a nice little expo, reasonable goodie bag(FL 70.3 redeemed itself at the finish cuz otherwise their's sucked) Keith had been awesome about providing updates as to the status of the race and then they reacted well to yet more rain. They brought in a load of wood chips on Saturday to try and make the transition area better. My travelling jockstrap, my Mom, has taken to volunteering at the events I drag her to(yeah, I held the Taser to her to make her drive the 5 hours to get there from the opposite direction I was coming from) including IM LP, FL 70.3, and some other races. She ended up working the bike course for this one so I asked her opinion of the race organization. She was very favorably impressed but was a little concerned about a USAT rule. Seems she has been around triathlon long enough to be familiar w/ the outside assitance rule so she was wondering about the fact the

  • Comments: Compared to the Timberman last year this was a good race - while a bit slower I certainly didn't have the same base in as last year. Also I think that I nailed down my nutrition. My plan was to have 2 aerobottles of sportsdrink on the bike (InfinIT), 2-4 gels and a pack of Clif Blocks. For the run I had my fuel belt (gatorade) and gel. I also relied on flat pepsi for the last loop (and a cookie - I figure if I was shuffling I might as well have a cookie!). No stomach issues or muscle cramping like Timberman. I was much happier this time 'round. Keith Jordan's races are second-to-none. Despite the crappy weather and the flooded transition area the race still went off without a hitch! He, the endorfun crew, the voluneteers, officials, lin-mark, the police, everyone did a fantastic job keeping us safe and allowing us to have a day of it at Newfound. My only complaint: I didn't get a towel! If that is the worst thing about the race then I think that things went very well! My

  • Comments: As usual Keith put on an unbelievably great race, with so many enthusiastic volunteers, especially for such crappy weather. I am very happy with how today turned out. Set a new half-iron PR by over 35 minutes. I had a great swim which has seriously boosted my confidence for LP. Even though my run ended up being a bit slower than I would have liked, I did not feel totally dead afterward, and again this race really boosted my confidence. The tale of the tape: Mooseman 6/06 Timberman 8/05 Swim 37:49 45:39 T1 3:00 4:00 Bike 2:53:58 3:02:22 T2 2:14 2:17 Run 1:46:18 2:04:25 Total 5:23:18 5:58:43 What a great day. Bring on IMLP!
