  • Comments: Went into my 3rd triathlon in Blue Ridge, GA pretty confident after spending this year ramping up my swim at the Aquatic Center and Open Water Swims at Lake Allatoona. Swimming being my main limiter and biking and running, my strengths. I never realized just how much technique is involved with swimming and it's been a challenge to get faster in the water and to also become comfortable in open water. For this race, I knew I would have no problem with the Sprint distance: 600 yard swim, 18 mile bike, 3.2 mile run. No I don't have an expensive Tri bike with aero wheels, aero bars or aero helmet. In fact, you'd laugh at how much my race bike costs. Hey, I figure I'll build my body up first before diving in fully with the expensive gear. Rested 3 days prior and was battling a groin/adductor pull. Hurts like crazy unless legs are crossed. Race morning woke up at 3am! Alarm was set for 4am. Gluten free waffle, larabar, 2 eggs for bfast. Bottle of Skratch on the drive up. Some coffee. Arrived

  • Comments: There was a problem with the boats and paddle boards for the lifeguards being late so they delayed the race start by about 30 minutes. It wasn't a big dal though and once started everything else was right on time.

  • Comments: This was a really well run race. I was extremely impressed with the organization and number of volunteers at all parts of the course. The free kids race with medals for finishers was a really nice touch. The only issue was the bike course length but it wasn't that big of a deal for me since I usually train on much longer rides anyway. I had a great time and would like to come back next year.

  • Comments: Although my own planning caused ME to race poorly, GA Multisports has earned a reputation for putting on great races and this was no exception. This is a fairly tough course for a sprint, but that's not a bad thing. I didn't prepare and I paid the price for it. The race was well run with an overabundance of friendly volunteers along the way. I will be back next year! The best part -- I set my PR for this course, and should be able to do so again next year!!!! It's good to set the bar low on my first run at it so I can crush it next time. ;)

  • Comments: This was the inaugural race for Tri The Mountains, put on by GA Multisport. I swear you could not tell. The event was very organized, TONS of volunteers (which were freaking great the entire day), the volunteers were very knowledgeable and could direct racers and spectators. The shuttle that ran between transition and the finish line for spectators (e.g. point to point run) were right on time, etc., etc. This was a great race, and I will definitely be back to get revenge on this course [sarc]and the USAT Official[/sarc]. :) If you are looking for a solid challenge, organized event, and a class A race, put this one on your schedule for next year.

  • Comments: This race, as with all of Ga Multisport races, is a quality event. Everything was well organized- the parking, transition set up, course markings, etc.... It's a race that makes for a weekned up in the mtn's. I love these short- get-away races. Awards were a paper certificate and pint glasses with a free beer coupon from the local Blue Ridge Brewery. (women got a necklace in place of the beer I think) The top 3 OA got an All3sports gift cert as well. There was a HUGE spread of food from a local restaurant, as well as fried pies from the local orchard, and other sponsor tents with samples.
