  • Comments: Final Stretch did everything they could given the conditions. The park was turned into a swamp (nearly a lake). They got us out and gave us a fully supported course despite the crummy conditions. Had I been in the mood, and not exhausted and sleep deprived, I would like to have relaxed a bit at the park after the race.

  • Comments: Friday was sunny and warm. Overnight the temperature dropped and there was a huge amount of rain/wind/hail. In the morning a system went through and the race was delayed about an hour due to lightning. It was windy, cold and rainy the entire day. The best part was getting in the warm water at the beginning of the race. I take my helmet off to all the volunteers who sat out in the cold and wind and rain to give us water and nutrition. There could have been one more aid station on the bike, but the run was perfect. Good food and drinks at the end of the race. And, of course Sunday dawned sunny, warm and calm. That's triathlon for you.

  • Comments: This was a well run event. The post race meal was okay. Hot dogs, chips, fruit, cookies and Muscle Milk. I did get a chance to try a new flavor (Banana Cream Pie) and that was good. I would rather have seen a big pot of spaghetti or burgers, but I do like a hot dog from time to time. I do think the distance was short. I think the bike was only 54.5 miles and the run was 12.5 miles (according to my Garmin). The race officials need to make sure the course is accurately set up next year. Not sure why the run would have been short though. I understand that the bike ended up getting changed due to some construction. No matter what happened, I was still happy with this race and will be excited to do it again in the future.

  • Comments: There was plenty of police support at major intersections on the bike course. Run was good. Lots of water, HEED, gels and bars along the way. Rebecca Park is beautiful. The run was breath taking.

  • Comments: Volunteers were great, course was well marked. I was dissappointed that they only had 2 instead of 3 water stops as they said they would. They only had ice at one stop on the run course (which would have been really helpful earlier). Burgers were small, crispy hockey pucks, but otherwise everything was set up and run very well. If I'm doing an ironman next year, this will absolutely be on my list to do again, regardless if it's at Rebecca or Baker park!

  • Comments: Aside from the rough bike course, it was a great race. The bike course was well marked with lots of volunteers and there was lots more on the run course. There was still lots of food when I got to the post-race stuff and it was all great. It was great for me to do this distance, my longest ever, at this point in my trianing program. It really helped my mental toughness moving my body for that long of time. I think that will really help me out at Madison.

  • Comments: Excellent race. Lots of aid stations on the run and clearly marked bike course. Although some additional variety at the aid stations (run) would have been nice.

  • Comments: Final stretch put on a top-notch race. The volunteers were fantastic. As I approached the run aid stations they would yell out ahead asking if I wanted HEED or water. You don't get that kind of service at larger races where the aid stations are overrun with runners. I never thought I'd come back for a second time, but this was really the only HIM that worked out with my schedule this year. At least I know if I come back a third time I'll be well taken care of.

  • Comments: Needed port-o-potties on the bike course. I could have let it go in the woods, but I saw the marshalls quite often and didn't want to get penalized. Maybe I just need to learn to let it go on the bike!

  • Comments: This was a pretty well run HIM. The course was well marked and they had plenty of volunteers. I was very pleased with the outcome. I was shooting for 5:15 and had filed a 5:00 time under the "if everything goes perfectly" category so coming out with a 5:01:46 was great! It was a 33 minute PR on a much tougher course than my first HIM so I have little to complain about.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed this race I will signup again next year. The course is a tough one. Bike and run have some good hills. The run is tough out and back. It is always a good when you finish. I went from 5:42:42 in 2008 to 5:25:28. I hope to cut that some more next year.

  • Comments: I enjoyed the race. Better signage out on the bike course would be helpful, and more course guidance on portions of the run where the course is not obvious would be helpful, but it was good overall.
