  • Comments: There were more DQs than I have ever seen in any race. Not sure if that was the # of collegiate participants, but I am suspicious of some of the times put up by a couple of the participants. It almost seems like there was a lap missing on either the bike course or the run course. May have been innocent mistakes - but if you were easy pacing the bike course and shorted it a lap - it might not be as noticeable. It would also be nice if this race started an hour earlier. I am assuming the later start helps those travelling in that morning from distant hometowns because Stokesdale is in the middle of nowhere.

  • Comments: Overall, I am really happy with this race. While the run sucked, this was my first international distance (and second tri that I finished) and am pleased with how I did. I should have spent more time on the bike in the 4-6 weeks leading up to the race, but with a family (3 kids, 6 and under) and busy job, it just was not going to happen. Regardless, I am in this to stay active, be a good role model for my kids, and have fun. All three objectives were achieved, in that regard. I am not sure what I am going to do next. It is easier for me to stay motivated with a race on the schedule. But we have a pretty busy summer. I might just put it on autopilot for the summer and run. We will see! While I know a lot of members are familiar with JRC events, I will throw my two cents in and say Benji and Hope are awesome. They put on a great race, with activities for the kids! I would and will do JRC events in the future.

  • Comments: Awesome race! I love this venue, and plan to be back every year as long as I can fit it in. I loved the pint glasses for finishers, and the fleece blankets were a great prize. Set Up always does an incredible job!

  • Comments: I thought this was a good race. Setup events has very cheerful, helpful people. I really don't have a lot to compare the race to so I don't know if it is average, above average, etc. I'm happy with the setup events.

  • Comments: Great race. Loved the 9am start. Loved the time trial start. Clean clear lake. Scenic bike course. Post-race pizza was awesome - that should be mandatory at all triathlons.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Really well put on race by Setup...it's a tough run course, and the bike course can be challenging on the front side with the wind...but the bike is gorgeous and feels shorter than its 27 miles...the swim is really pretty and not choppy generally...transition is tough out of the gate b/c of a really steep hill...still, a great race by a great race organization...

  • Comments: Overall, glad I competed but was not fully ready for this race. Limited ability to maintain bike and run speed. Also about 10-15 pounds over race weight. I need to get serious if I expect better results.
