  • Comments: The transition area was the worst set-up I've seen. A lot of places you couldn't even rack your bike and it was extremely crowded. It was also an extremely long transition area. Though, other than putting the fence too close to the A-frames and not clearing the transition area pre-race, the race directors did the best with what they could for the location. The swim was great, really smart to do the wade start with the rocky beach. The bike course was difficult but enjoyable. It was well marked with aid stations at the right spots and people wathing the right intersections. The run was good, but the finishing stretch was loose sand and rocks. Other than trying not to roll an ankle, it was frustrating to try and sprint to the end. The volunteers were great and post race activities were very good.

  • Comments: Nutrition on this race I had placed two gus on the bike and had two gus in my tri top and one big bottle of high concentrate Gatorade in transition. I only had one gu on the bike and one gu on the run and a protein bar just before the swim, it seemed about right. Hydration was a the aero bottle and a frozen bottle on the down tube plus a frozen bottle in transition for the run. • Comments: This was my first Rage in the Sage, second BBSC race. They do a good job. I wouldn't mind doing this race again with traiditonal temps of 80 degrees.

  • Comments: Everything was good but they had a couple of issues with peoples time and posting them. Awards were delayed 1 hour due to this.

  • Comments: The 2 is based on mainly a couple of bad intersections that should have had traffic control, glad no one got hurt. There should have been one more water/aid station on the run. I would have liked to see one more aid station on the run but I really shouldn't complain,. The bibs, both bike and run were cheap POS, next year they should save even more money on them and just not have any at all then they won't have to clean them up off of the course. My criticism of the race comes from two intersections where they should have had LEO directing traffic it had potential for BAD things to happen. The post food & beverage was great, 2 beers and lots of pretty good food. If it wasn't for those two intersections i would have hit this with a 5.

  • Comments: This is one of the rare occasions where I am pleased with my performance from start to finish. I swam well after a so-so start, the bike was solid, and the run was good. It was a PR for me on an Olympic distance swim, and the run was a PR for a non-Tempe Olympic (that was a race that was not only on a flat course, but also during my build for IMAZ, so the standard is a little different). I consider this race to be a PR day for a 'tough' course. It was a good start to the season. I have to give credit to BBSC for another fantastic race. It was organized, safe, plenty of volunteers, and nice race bags/extras. It was my third time racing with them, and they always do a great job.

  • Comments: When I was done with the massage and eating, I decided to check the results that were posted. According to those, I was third in my division! YAY! I was going to get more hardware! SO... I stuck around to wait for the awards ceremony. When they FINALLY got to my division, when they annouced who was third, it wasn't me!!!! Apparently, they put the third place guy in the wrong division and he straigtened it out and JUST squeeked out third and beat me by 49 seconds. As a side note? If he was 200 lbs, he was like 205. The guys that were 1st and 2nd were legitimate clydesdales, but third? I don't know. But if he was over 200 he was over and them's the rules, and I just need to get faster! Honestly? I was sort of banking on getting hardware to prove myself... to myself becuase I was not very happy with the overall time. I have been faster on one occasion and I thought I have done a LOT more work this year with the training and the weight loss... So for several days, I was

  • Comments: Seemed to be pretty organized on race day but some pre-race chaos. Many people didn't get race t-shirts in their size despite specifying desired size on race application. Not sure how that happens. Good first race for me though.

  • Comments: Good race, good activities. Check in was easy. Course was clearly marked and there was no question where to be. Challenging bike and run course, perfect in my opinion. Great atmosphere, plenty of competition, supportive volunteers, etc. I will do this race again next year and WIN

  • Comments: I think it is lousy to advertise a race as chip timed, then not even tell people it is hand timed unless asked, then not time the transition zones, then not offer rebates on the cost saved to the for-profit organizer. No one at run turn-around, who knows who turned around short; and one biker told me he passed a woman on the way up the big hill, then passed her again on the way down! No policing. Nice short sleeved tech t-shirt. Won't be back.

  • Comments: The course is very challenging, out of the transition area on the bike you have about a half mile steep uphill. It's got some killer hills and wind can be an issue. I really like the run, I like trail and gravel roads way better than pavement or asphalt any day. It's slower running but the same for everyone.
