  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: Packet pick-up was a mess with long lines. Transition area was stung out over a really long distance and you had to cross a foot bridge at least twice. Announcements were unclear or non-existant. Sprint and long course of swim crossed paths. No posting of waves and so there was confusion taking off. Races started late. There were no, and I really mean no, spectators for support. No after race activities. Not even a radio playing. Food offerings were bad news. Now for the good. Lake Geneva is a gem of a lake to swim in. Water temp was perfect for wetsuit/nonwetsuit. Crystal clear. Bike course was a decent wisconsin course. Rolling hills. Road conditions were acceptable to good. Only a couple tricky intersections with high auto-traffic. Run course was very challenging but doable. About 1.5 mile on each loop had heavy auto traffic. Otherwise, quiet streets.

  • Comments: The course itself was good. The water/heed was often warm. Traffic was bad and cars would come within inches of us. Started late. Director was rude when I asked when the next pre-race meeting was. Organization stunk. Had to run over small bridges that slowed people down because you had to do it single file. Sweatshirt wasn't a tri sweatshirt vs. a lake geneva sports promotion. One warm bottle of water after the whole thing with no way to get more?

  • Comments: This was actually a very good race. I heard a lot of bad oomments about it but I liked the venue, lots of hotels close by for family memsbers to go back to while they wait for the race to end. A little depressing to get done with your race and see all the people with the shorter races all done and gone. I also liked how the transition area was right next to the swim start. It gives you plenty of time to set your bike up and then wait for them to call your race start. The bike couse had very good people giving directions at all the intersections and lots of rests stops. Run also had good drink stops. I will probably do it again in 2011 or 2012.

  • Comments: The organization of this race was (notoriously) terrible. Volunteers at packet pickup were clueless, hectic transitions/bike mount and dismount areas, lack of direction or good marking on the bike course, mile markers not matching up on the half ironman, etc. The best part about the race was the participants and the fans, as well as the fact that I was able to hit my goal.

  • Comments: chaotic, poor course w/ limited volunteers and post-race activities. 4 different tri lengths at the same time, too many open-to-traffic-roads and disorganized transition area force me to not return

  • Comments: As i mnetioned after i paid for this race i heard the negative stories about the promoter. it lost its USAT sanction. i felt overall it was solid event, i hope to do it again and will reco it to any who do not fear hills. my garmin had the milages just a bit over the stated ones but close enough for rounding.

  • Comments: This race had a bad reputation for having poor course markings and few volunteers. I actually thought it was reasonable. We had a lot of traffic to contend with and there were some interesections that had no people to direct traffic, but overall it was better than I thought it would be. I won't do it again. The run was just too crazy for me even if my stomach wasn't an issue. There was a fair amount of cheating going on....long lines of bikers riding together (almost like a pace line) and several people that cut off part of the HIM run course since there were no timing mats. I guess they all have to live with themselves. The #3 AG behind me cheated and if she would have beaten my I think I might have slugged her :)

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: I have done this race in the past and this years was relatively well organized compared with previous. Although there is still not enough support on the bike course, especially when the printed and web materials say there will be gel on the course, and there was not. Nice, VERY challenging course, moderately disorganized and undersupported, but better than previous years and improving.

  • Comments: I don't know if I'll do this race again... I've done it 3x now, each time a different distance.... it's a tough tough venue. Lots of hills. It's beautiful, though, and the water is usually clear and beautiful. Tired. Now it's time for some well earned REST!!!!

  • Comments: The whole race I felt really good. Never felt like I was thirsty, tired or running low on energy. Everything I did on Friday with carb loading and drinking water really setup a good race for me on Saturday. For being a "Frank Dobbs" race and hearing all the horror stories, I was pretty pleased at the race setup. Although stuff was running late and there were no port-o-johns on the course, like everything had said, it was pretty good. Id do it again. It is a very challenging course and awesome to race on it.

  • Comments: Very tough course, beautiful location. I know there are flatter HIMs out there. I will do those, but plan on hitting this one again for a tough challenge.

  • Comments: A couple of big problems today. The swim course was short for all distances. There was no bike aid station until mile 35 and only two on the bike course. Run aid stations were about two miles apart. On the bright side though, all of the volunteers, especially those at the aid stations were GREAT TODAY! A big THANK YOU to all who were there.
