  • Comments: I thought it was a great race. They did an incredible job in a year the attendance tripled!!! The volunteers were superb and I thanked a ton of them. The volunteers on the bike course took their job in the hand-off so seriously, it was great!!! As I said before, the number of water stations on the run course really helped my time, that was so key for such a hot run. I would definitely do this race again. I do have a couple of negatives. I think they are easy to fix and would make a good race turn into a really excellent race. One is the comment I made on the run course above which I will not repeat. Second, treatment of the athletes post-race was lame. Yes, there was a great spread of food but you had to wait in this huge line and who wants to eat that heavy food right after the race? It would have been nice to be able to grab a bagel or banana. Also, I drank one bottle of water and went back to get another and the guy told I couldn't get back in the finish area to grab another

  • Comments: Excellent race, excellent company, excellent experience. The course was fantastic, the volunteers outstanding, the weather great, and my performance (in total) better than I ever could have imagined. A great day with great company. Thanks - especially to Trix, Lisa, and Jean for playing. :) I'll be back next year. With a chip on my shoulder, and in a new AG. :)

  • Comments: Left "organized" blank since the race grew from 700 to 1800. Shuttles from athlete parking to transition didn't run after the race! I'll try to upload some pictures later this week.

  • Comments: This race was great except for a few things that were most likely related to the huge increase in racers, the finish area was a bit of a mess in terms of trying to find additional food or water and then my friends and family had a hard time actually getting to the finish area as the shoot was surrounded by sand dunes, I also thought that the finish was a little bit further than it ended up being so I didn't give the kick that maybe I would have. Then the only other complaint and this is pretty minor seemed to not always have cold beverages, and I heard some peole complain about lack of port a potties, but I seemed to find them just fine.

  • Comments: Loved the swim and volunteers were great on all of the course. Bike was was interesting and had enough for everyone. The run was just plain tough... but it IS a half ironman. It was a great place to race, and would be a great place to take the family to the beach but a bad place for a family to watch a race. This venue is great for participants but sure not set up for spectators. If you didn't know ahead of time that this was an official Ironman 70.3 event ahead of time you would have not known by being there. Would have loved to have seen the Ironamn 70.3 logo more prominent (including the shirt).

  • Comments: Most people said it might be a bad idea to do a half-ironman as a first race, and they may be right. However, I did it and no matter how far back I finished and how many people twice my age beat me, I did it. I should say though that now those 1190 people ahead of me should start looking over their shoulder.
