  • Comments: My first-ever MTB race was held by these people in 2001 or 2002. They've come a long way. This was a very well-organized race. Nice swim area, easy bike course, outstanding run course!

  • Comments: If they'd just either advertise the bike as short or rework the course so it really IS 56 miles, that'd be great. Otherwise, this is a good race, it's well-organized, the volunteers are great, aid stations are fun (some are themed) and well stocked, and the shwag is pretty good too. I recommend it but you have to realize you're not really going the ENTIRE 70.3 distance.

  • Comments: I think the post-race festivities could have been a little nicer. I might be spoiled by Ft. Story Bowling Alley party fests, but the last thing I wanted post-race was to stand in a long line for cold pizza.

  • Comments: This was my A race. My first season of Triathlon was finally over!!!!! Training in Chicago through October was brutal on me, I was burned out and it was cold! I wanted to break 6:30 and would have been happy, but for some reason I knew I could have been better. I wanted more from myself. That run just wasn't me. Hopefully those thoughts fuel my training through the winter. I'll be back in July to tackle the 1/2 iron distance again but next time I'll have fresh legs and a better engine! I going to take a couple of days off since my legs are still sore and then ease back into swimming before I set the bike up the trainer. BUT the more I think about it, I'm never really happy with my performance. I just finished 70.3 miles, maybe I need to smack myself in the head and have a drink and toast my first season, which all in all was wonderful and life changing. Sometimes you need to call yourself out when you're being a dumb ass. :)

  • Comments: I think this is a great race. The swim is awesome, the bike was flat and fast, and the run was well organized but not the best course in my opinion. I like the company that puts on these races-they're a good bunch of folks who just enjoy the heck out of it. If I hadn't signed up for IMFL next year, I'd do this in a heart beat.

  • Comments: I will definitely be back next year. It may only be for the international distance, but who knows...I might be persuaded to do the half again. Right now I'm on a quest to not do long races after IMAZ. It could have been a bit better organized, but it was still a great day. I have no "race" complaints at all. Everyone was AWESOME!!! Thanks to EVERYONE who I came in contact with this weekend. I won't even start listing cuz I know I'll miss someone, but lemme tell ya, everyone who I dealt with this weekend made it an amazing time for me. If this is only half of how I'll feel after IMAZ, I just can't wait to do it!!

  • Comments: "Respect the distance" No this is not a line from Field of Dreams. It is simply a phrase that FC and I discuss frequently when my mind wanders into Ironman 2007 mode. Simply, it represents the ability of a race of this distance to go from full control to no control. It is evident in todays developments. Today was not about lack of fitness, lack of perservereance, or lack of desire. It was about what the day dealt. Today it was blisters, spasms and Diarreah. Next time it may be wind or rain or waves or something else. What is certain is that I must deal with what the day hands down. That is racing. NO EXCUSES! A HUGE hug to all Da Bitches (FC, Rafa, Ivanka, Jocy, Tony and R2) for a fantabulous 16 weeks of training. The teamwork got us here. Big Bad Captain Dirk! A beast racing and coaching. He is a one stop triathlon oligopoly from coaching to mechanics to political enlightment. Disney 70.3 in 6:15? Let's go to work!!!

  • Comments: Now, that it's the day after the race, I look back and think how much better I could have done, had I prepared better. I really, really want to do a HIM next year and have a much different experience than this time. I want to be one of those people on the run course that are jogging easily, and don't look like they are dying. This was a great experience for me, and although I am bummed about how slow I was, I can't wait to work on my weaknesses and greatly improve next year. Thanks for reading!

  • Comments: This race was so hard for me because it was a qualifier for next year's world championships (top 3 in age group). So this is the first time that my race goals were based on placement rather than me just beating the clock or challenging myself. My time was faster than I'd ever dreamed I could go but even then I had to wait until the results were posted to know if it was good enough to qualify. I was SHOCKED when it showed I was first! I knew so many people at this race so even though it was far from home (about 70 miles) I was comfortable. Thee were tons of BTers there racing and cheering and lots of folks from my tri club too. What a great day! I QUALIFIED FOR WORLDS!!!! I'M GOING TO FRANCE NEXT YEAR!!!

  • Comments: This race was pretty decent. I thought the scenary on thebike course was really boring and not very scenic. It was kind of fun running through the zoo (despite the fact that seeing the animals really messed with my head)and I liked that the run course was 2 loops. This race is good if you're looking for a fast, flat course, but is known to be windy on the bike. I would recommend it- it was a great way for me to finish off my tri season. The expo was small and I wish it was bigger, the post race activities were ok- nothing spectacular.

  • Comments: This is a great race. The course is challenging but rewarding. The weather was hot and windy just like last year. I will definitely do this race again. I want to congratulate the gang. Billy with an total domination over his AG. That was a spectatular performance to end the season. I am glad you called me back in June to tell me you were thinking about doing a tri. Look how far you have come in 5 months. We are all proud of you and your accomplishments with your health as well as triathlon. Enjoy the time now because we still have some work to do for next year. Here we come 2006! Ramiro "The Ramster" Cortes for getting off his ass the second half of the season. He has not raced for 3 years and had a great race. You are our Half IM champion for this year. Alfredo M for also getting off his ass and quitting smoking. You could have been in better shape for this, but my hat is off to you for staying the course and competing with us. What the hell dude? You beat me! Keko for

  • Comments: I really did enjoy myself today. It was so cool that so many BTers got hardware! I loved giggling and being silly with Janelle. Sue was my lifesaver after the race. Jim just killed that course - amazing!! I would do this race again. It was fun. It is so much fun to take on a new challenge and do well. Next stop, IMAZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!
