  • Comments: PB by almost a min, which was set at the 1998 Sporting Life 10K! There were only 1,300 participants then. Today, ~13,000 people running down Yonge St, now Canada's largest run! Age Group Rank = 21/372. Top 6th percentile in my AG. VERY HAPPY! P.S. - Now that I've a little time to reflect on my PB, I'm even more stoked. To think that I set a PB today that has stood for 13 years, since I was 37 in 1998, and now at age 50, I finally broke 50min for 10k for the first time!! I feel I can retire now, and never have to do this race again. Also, according to Garmin, my time is 48:48, course is long. So I went not just sub 50, but sub 49!!

  • Comments: the debacle with the shuttle buses at the start was a bit of a headache - had to grab a taxi to the starting line. not something I wanted to deal with! next year I wont be making the same mistake! good run...feel very happy with the result, the process, and the effort.

  • Comments: There is nothing not to like about this race. Downhill for the first 6km, over 10,000 runners, very well organized, a great cause, awesome run!

  • Comments: Only issue was with the location of the finish and the exit from the venue through one small gate in the fence.

  • Comments: Being down hill is challenging on my quads. Really felt it post race. Happy with my day, as this is a PB for me. Nice to see that all the work is paying off.

  • Comments: A record 12,000 runners toed the start line and took over Canada's most famous Yonge street in the 12th Sporting Life 10K, easily Canada's Fastest 10K. Well, not an official PB, even though Garmin's time was significantly different, but 10th percentile in my AG is quite respectable. One day, I hope to run 10K in a time less than my age.

  • Comments: A record 10,000 runners toed the start line and took over Canada's most famous street and "run down Yonge, without getting run down!" in the Sporting Life 10K, Canada's Fastest 10K. In some ways, I'm a little disappointed I didn't set a PB. It would have been nice as my 10K PB was set EXACTLY 10yrs ago on this course when I was F35-39 @50:17. But in some ways, I'm happy to have been running consistently and injury free for the last 10yrs. And @F45-49, I ran 50:35 today, placing 7th percentile in my AG, which is probably my best in a big race.

  • Comments: Wish I could have set a PB and gone sub 50min. But overall, I'm pleased since: 1. I ran in the 10th anniversary of the Sporting Life 10K. Got a nice ring to it, don't you think - 10K, 10th anniversary, Sporting Life! 2. The fastest I've gone is 50:17, so today is 2 sec slower. But that was 9 yrs ago (the 1st Sporting Life 10K), when I was in the Women 35-39 group, I'm now in Women 45-49! Although 9 yrs ago, there was no computer chip so actual run time was probably <50:17. 2. This is the 1st race of the season, so I haven't done much speedwork yet. Actually, this IS my speedwork. 3. This time is based so far in 2007, on 2 runs/wk, <2hrs of running/wk, and ~10mi/wk. So a great result relative to training time, couldn't have gotten a better bang for the buck. 4. Only ~20% of Canadians are physically active. Even if they all have the fitness level to do a 10K (which is unlikely), by placing in the 11th percentile, that puts me in top 2% of my age group. Gotta be pleased about
