  • Comments: Great race. Gorgeous course, and a lot of great support. For being the first time it was a triathlon, this was a great race. They'll probably need to add port-a-potties and a few more drinking stations on the run next year, but for the most part, it was taken care of nicely. I'm sure the race directors had a hay day trying to get everything approved... and it was well worth it!

  • Comments: A really good race. And I beat my goal time by 4 minutes. I only have one comparable time (the other Olympic had the swim cut short due to strong surf). That was my first ever Olympic distance and it was a much hillier course. All that being said, I was 17 minutes faster in this race. The best part was doing this race with Team In Training. I had a really great experience and found the whole thing very rewarding. My teammates and coaches were awesome. And it was great to be part of such a worthy organization. Lots of "Go Team" cheers throughout the race. Here's my two favorite moments of the race. 1 - Mary Ellen standing in the middle of the road with bikes going one way and runners going the other cheering her lungs out for TNT. Just awesome. 2 - Heading through the start of the second bike lap. A really big crowd had gathered there and they were cheering everyone on. Final comments. For anyone reading this I highly recommend this race - it was very organized and

  • Comments: This is the second year of this race. It was good and DC is an excellent venue for a race. They could improve transportation for spectators in the future, and also post mile markers on the run.

  • Comments: The mile markers where not on the course, and we were not given information that the water stations where at mile markers, this made it hard to pace.

  • Comments: Real kudos to the RD for securing the race in DC, particularly the Potomac swim. Overall it was pretty well-done, and I'm glad I did it, but probably wouldn't do it again.. some issues with attention to detail (e.g. mile markers/aid stations/course distance/check-in logistics), and it was pretty expensive. But a nice way to see DC!

  • Comments: Sounds kind of negative as I review my comments; but, I pr'd this race. Considering I had been sick & still didn't feel top notch on race day I can't complain. The swim was my best as far as sighting, swim technique, & maintaining my composure (which I usually lose at least once). Not my fastest but I would argue my best overall from a mental & strategic standpoint. I would have liked to have done better on the bike; but, I found w/o my computer I focused a lot more intently on trying to maintain a smooth cadence. The run went well. The race itself was pretty awesome. Went past the Lincoln Memorial, the capital, the Washington monument, etc. There were lots of spectators cheering us on. Volunteer support was tremendous & the cops/emt's were great as well. Logistically speaking this race has to be a nightmare. They did a pretty good job of disrupting DC Proper traffic. One result of that disruption was the advertised shuttle busses seemed to be non-existent. So my wife,

  • Comments: For all the nay-sayers, and folks who never thought it'd happen, the Nation's Tri is one of the all-time best triathlon experiences I've ever had! I can't wait till next year!

  • Comments: Great event. Great location and I am sure that it took a lot to pull it off. Couple of comments: More porta-potties. Saw at least fifty people standing in line Mile markers on the run. Shuttle service from finish to transition was over taxed

  • Comments: The shuttle buses were a disappointment and they could have had more jons out there given the number of participants. I was happy with this race and would recommend it as well as plan on doing it next year. I was really pleased to be able share this race with Tink and Oliver. My wife also changed her perception of Tris and was very proud and that gave me significant encouragement.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed the race and plan on doing it again next year. The only two things that they could do to improve it is MORE PORTA POTTIES at the start and have results posted. I have never had to wait over a day to see how I did. I also think that the course was shorter than was posted just based on the times. I would love to say that I had amazing PR's in each segment, but more than likely the course was short.

  • Comments: Course is built for speed. It is no nonsense swim: out and back. It had long flats or swooping curves for bike and no major hills for run. It was not a difficult course, in fact, it was easy, but it should show correspondingly fast times. (except for the big winds on the bike.) The lack of a shuttle at the end of the race back to the T1 was a big pain...but, that is DC Police for you.

  • Comments: I liked the race on the whole. The course was easy and very well managed. This is a great first triathlon. My only complaint was that parking was difficult and the finish was a long way from the transition. Traffic was TERRIBLE and it took forever to get back to transition to get my stuff. Other than that I was quite pleased with the overall experience. I'd do this race again.

  • Comments: There were some difficulties with the venue. The registration site was not at the same place as either the transition or race finish which were separated by 15 or so blocks. The shuttles that ran between the finish and transition were slow in coming, and at least the driven of the shuttle I was in didn't seem to know where he was going, making a U-turn once to turn around. I'm fairly certain that I could have walked home, taken a shower, and walked back to the transition area in the time it took to wait for a shuttle and ride back. There was no support out on the bike course.
