  • Comments: Tough race. Swim needs better marking. Bike ride was very challenging and exhausting. Harder than I thought going into it. Run was also hilly, and difficult because I was so tired by then.

  • Comments: This was a really well run race. Setup did a great job of keeping the aid stations well stocked with ice / water / HEED. Didn't care for the HEEd too much but at least there was plenty of it. Course was well marked. It was a tougher course than I imagined but challenging. Would do again with right tires / better fitness.

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: I learned that it is probably best that I not do not do a long business trip right before the race. Came home last Thursday night after driving for 6 hours and then turned around and left late Friday morning. We were camping so we wanted to get there in plenty of time to get set up and relax.

  • Comments: Again, the volunteers made the run on this course. I think their help kept everyone death-marching forward on a very tough day. Plus, the group of three cheering at the third turn-around were hysterical. The race started on time, and the entire course was very well marked. Even though I blew up on this course, I still rated it a great race. I will have to be back for revenge on this course.

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: Overall - good race, great volunteers. I'm disappointed with my overall time, as I thought my general fitness level was much more indicative of about 6 hrs. However, I've already resolved myself to go back next year, with a better understanding of the race and an amended nutrition plan, to hammer out a sub-6. But, I finished, and in one piece (which was what my wife cared about).

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Wanted to run 6 hours or below. 6:23 not bad for my first Half. I have no idea how they managed to organize this event but thought they did a very good job. Loved the volunteers. Loved the race. Loved the country. I have been spending this following week in north Georgia, riding the hills, I will not be defeated!

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: I think I'm done with this race. This was my third attempt and while I was 8 minutes faster than the last one, it's one that still vexes me. We could've used far more drink stations on the run. Luckily I kept my second cup with the ice in it and carried that with me to use between SAG's. Also, that stupid HEED. No one can drink that crap. How about some G'Ade or P'Ade there Jim? Ultimately, a couple of weeks earlier and twenty degrees cooler and I could realistically look at shaving 30+ minutes off of my times here. It's ok, though, since I truly was looking for a training experience. Boy, did I get one!

  • Comments: It really was a nice race and they had a good amount of volunteers even though the heat had to be brutal on them as well. They need to work on their weather karma though since the conditions certainly could have been better.

  • Comments: This course is as advertised, rolling hills and the heat will get to you on the run. This not the right course for my first half iron and my fitness level coming off the bike into the run just was not up for this distance.

  • Comments: This was a training race for my attempt at IMLOU in augie. I had a steady conservative race. I think I can push the half distance a little harder next time and improve my times. Nonetheless, I was very pleased with the results and now have a benchmark to PR against. Plus, to put it in perspective: 5:55 race time, 2:00 of post race dawdling, 5:30 drive home, 0:30 to uunpack and grab a beer on balcony, and maybe, just maybe I will be finished with full iron in same amount of time.

  • Comments: This course is the real deal. It is hard. Like Kona hard. The bike is hilly and the run course is hilly. Not an once of shade on the entire course. I did Gulf Coast and Steelhead and this course takes it to another level. It is truly a test of your fitness, pacing and nutrition; any mistakes and you will pay on this course. Setup and GA Multisports Production do an outstanding job.

  • Comments: Loved this race. It was low stress, a really pretty course, good prizes and awards. My coach took 5th overall, 1st in masters and his AG...and won $200 bucks! They had close to a $5,000 purse for the top 5 overalls! Nice! Top 3 in Age Groups received cute little guitar trophies. Food was plentiful - chicken sandwhiches, fruit, cookies and bagels and I think they had free beer. I will be putting this race on my calendar for next year!

  • Comments: Even with all my negative comments, this was a really great race and I would recommend it. The lake swim seemed to be in a clean lake, the bike course was fun, the volunteers were awesome. Overall I had a great time. I was not impressed with my outcome, but there were a number of factors that contributed to this. I have some work cut out for me over the next 3 months leading up to MOO.

  • Comments: Other than the buoys being put out late there's not much to say bad. The only other pet peeve is the requirement to dig out your race number to get your chip. They already put a bracelet on you the day before with your number on it but apparently Homeland Security must be involved in keeping the cheaters out. I would definitely recommend this race. Congrats to Bass Pro as the new sponsor. They're great!
