  • Comments: The food was not the best, cut up hoagies and bags of chips. That's it. No massages, but lots of people being tended to by paramedics. Lots of people collapsed, I heard, and I saw 2 people getting IV drips when I came in. I actually expected more from Piranha Sports but hey, I got a finishers medal and trophy so I'm done complaining. It was a long day, but man, it was so worth it. I did a Half-Ironman!!!

  • Comments: For my brother's sake, the support for the late finishers was not there, running out of Gel packs and no massages for the later finishers in not good. These are the finishers who I believe need the most support. Race managers should be supporting the race fully, to the last particpant as long as they meet the cutoff times. For the sprint good support, however with the heat, the HIM support needs improvement.

  • Comments: I agree with another Diamondman poster that there should be more for the money. The incorrect mileage on run course cones was a downer. Goodie bag is pretty much just advertising -- not much stuff, and the T-Shirt could have some more imaginative graphics than just DDT on the front. Last year there were photographers on all legs of the race, but I didn't see any this time, so no photos. The staff and volunteers were top rate, though, and I likee the overall course as I am not a big fan of hills. Not sure I'll do it again next year though.

  • Comments: I was really disappointed. Piranha usually does better. The whole race felt disorganized, from Neil not being able to tell us which buoys were and were not on the swim course, to the poorly run aid stations on the run, to the issues with the timing. Did Piranha have a fight with Lin-Mark or something? Waited 2 days for the results and I still have to manually figure out my age group results. All that and they really need to try something different with the run. I hate to complain, but I did pay a good amount of money and I expect a little more and Neil ususally does come through with a quality product.

  • Comments: I loved the swim and bike. Thought it was very nice. But the run was terrible because of the terrain and water/gatorade stations were too far apart for a hot day. water/gatorade on run was often warm (for back of the pack racer like me). Would like to have also seen some Cola out there. I can't believe I have to do a full Ironman in 10 months. I was completely tired after this race. I've decided I definitely need a coach for Ironman.

  • Comments: This was my first HIM, so I have no other experience with a race this size to compare it to. I will say that compared to the Olympic and Sprint tris I have experienced, this one was less organized. Volunteers at any race are fantastic, but this race was on Sunday afternoon of the opening week of football. These volunteers rocked. Enough said.

  • Comments: what a great race for my first HIM. nice swim course, scenic bike and reasonable run. I was real pleased with my finish. obviously now am thinking back to how I could have gone faster, considering all the lead up and race day issues this was a great experience. Looking forward to another HIM and then the big one!

  • Comments: Just an awesome race. I exceeded or met my time goals in every leg, so it's going to be tough to top this race. If my lifetime PR is 4:50, I'll be happy. Of course the next triathlon goal is a sub 5 Eagleman. What a tough age group! Top 3 spots went to M40-44's. My time was only good enough for the 8th best in my AG. Top 5/10, 8/20, 10/22 spots were M40-44, not to mention the 46y/o who came in 7th. Wow.

  • Comments: Just making it to the start line for this race was a very emotional experience. I had trained so hard over the past months, and then to have the accident 3 days before the race was devastating. As I sat on the side of the road on Thursday, blood streaming from my face, I wanted to start to cry. But I knew that I had to wait until I was checked out to see what shape I was in. When the doctor looked me over and said that nothing was broken, my first question was "Can I injure it further if I race?" He was more worried about the stitches on my eye getting infected than my shoulder, so he gave me a script for amoxicillin to start taking as a preventive measure immediately after the race. After all that I've been through in the past year, it was good to finally have this race behind me. The work, the suffering, the sweat, and the tears all led to me having one of the best days of my life. The fact that I was able to beat my original goal time and pick up a 3rd place trophy was

  • Comments: Good race overall. The race was well organized, except for the crappy post race food. The bike course is really nice. The run course is nice in that it is on mostly trail dirt (good for the joints), but it pretty boring with little or no shade. After the race I walked over to transition area. It was so weird. I just touched the bike rack and suddenly BOOM, my front tube exploded! I am so glad that happened after the race instead of during. It was sort of warm outside so maybe this was the reason why.

  • Comments: I'm a back of the packer. I think it was great the way race organizers announced everyone's names with a short commentary coming into T-1. Even by the end of the race they were still watching us come across the finish line and announcing each person's achievement. I'm proud of having completed the Diamondman and remain in awe of the people who surrounded me that day. Sir, may I have another?

  • Comments: Nice race. I was disappointed the way the run feel apart after such a promising start. Oh well I ended up with a HIM PR by 1:30 and a really god bike split. I'm surprised how competeive the field was 65 under 5 hous and 292 under 6 hours. Hopefully I'll be back next year doing this as a warm up for IM FLA.

  • Comments: This was a very well organized race with plenty of staff and volunteers. Freebies were average...t-shirt, water bottle, hammer gel sample and a bunch of promotional brochures. There wasn't anything exceptional but overall it was a great race and I give it 2 thumbs up.

  • Comments: The race was well organized and supported. It got off a little late due to some last-minute buoy adjustments, but other than that it was great. I'd come back again, though next year I plan another HIM in mid-August so this might be too close.

  • Comments: I enjoyed the race and thought it was reasonably well run. While I didn't like the swim course, I'm not sure that they could have selected a better swim location given the limited number of places to do an open water swim. That said, I think another water station on the bike would have been nice. Additionally, it would have been nice to have the following at at least a few of the aid stations on the run(maybe even just the aid station right before the turnaround): sponges, ice, and some type of food (pretzels?).
