  • Comments: Overall: I thought it was a nice race. I enjoyed the swim most of all even though it's my weakest leg. Water temp was perfect. The event was pretty well organized. Everything on the course was well marked. I only was annoyed with some overly aggressive cyclists. Overall a solid race I would recommend to others.

  • Comments: Second year and I will be back again, great time of year for it and it is run well enough. I would say that hey need bike numbers to discourage drafting but that's a fairly common gripe for races that I've seen.

  • Comments: I really wanted to like this race and make it a normal event for me and I proabably will. It was not very well organized though, vehicular traffic allowed, nobody really checking transition area to make sure only those in there were supposed to be, and just overall feeling of being thrown together vs my other races and events I have been to.

  • Comments: Tis was my first season of triathlons and today was my first Oly. It's been quite a change over the last year. I've lost 50lbs (although I've put about 10 back on in the last 2 months) and began to get physically active again. I've always been very athletic and generally in good physical shape until the last few years. I played football, baseball and basketball in high school and football in college. About half way through the run I began to get extremly frustrated because I knew that I was going to be BOP again and was getting passed by some very un-athletic looking people. (No offense to them, they were kicking my butt) Then I began to reflect back on my first season and I'm proud of how far I've come. One year ago, I would have thought that I would have been much more likely to have been laid up in the hospital with a heart attack today rather than finishing my first Oly tri. So I've still got a long way to go but I'm proud of how far I've come even if I was BOP today.

  • Comments: Enjoyed my first Olympic distance triathlon. Proud for having accomplished it. Looking forward to trying to improve in all venues, particularly here, in the swim. Should definitely do this triathlon next year.

  • Comments: Having to run the first mile of the run at high tide kind of sucked, but everyone had to deal with it so it's all good. It was the first time I've done this race and I will probably come back next year.

  • Comments: Even though I raced like I was towing a piano, I had a good time and really liked the course. Sure the bike was flat but this is the only time bikes are allowed on the main roads on Kiawah Island and the run down the beach was something different and fun. Too bad it's 550 miles away and I may not be back for another few years, I really like the race.

  • Comments: Kiawah is a great race due to the sweet location and generally fast course. If you are traveling from out of town; the island is DEAD this time of year, so don't bother ponying up the extra cash to stay at the resort - it's a ghost town. Very secluded if you are in to that though.

  • Comments: The beginning of the race was chaos - anyone and their brother was allowed in transition and the lack of racks was annoying and frustrating. Race announcements were late, walk to beach was late, a little frustrated at the start. I'm also annoyed that there are no splits for transitions - it makes it harder to break down my performance. After that, the course was great - well staffed, plenty of people directing traffic, and the volunteers were great. I liked the course and I would like to do the race again. I wish they would become a USAT race in the future and fix the racking situation. I still liked the race overall, though, and would do it again because I liked the location and the course.
