  • Comments: Two main complaints about this race: - Location (down at the plaza) was not scenic at all - The course was long (6.33) and the finish was uphill with no view of the finish line or mile markers until about 200 feet from the finish line. Wasn't sure when to truly start the final kick.

  • Comments: Very poor mileage marking. Had to constantly guess where I was at. Other than that, I ran a smart, hard race. I wish I had a little more to give in the last 2 miles. However, my highest training session was 9.25 miles. During the race, my per mile breakdown pace is: 8,8,8,7:24,7:24,7:24,7:13,7:13,7:12,7:12,7:12,7:12,7:12. Overall average was 7:32/mile

  • Comments: I had a great time, and this was an excellent first half mary for me. The staff and volunteers were great. They had tons of food, beer, and results print outs onsite, which is always nice. I definitely will be doing this race in the future, either the half or full marathons.

  • Comments: My first 1/2 Marathon. Did my first 4 Sprint Triathlons over the summer and did two 5K races. Figured I was in good enough shape (from Tri training) to do a 1/2 Marathon. I figured correctly. Maybe will do the full 26.2 next year. My opinion is that the training for sprint triathlons is pretty good prep for a 1/2 Marathon.

  • Comments: Good race overall. The start was slightly delayed, but I think it was because they were waiting on one of the wheelchair participants to get situated. This event is continuing to grow. It went from 8,000 overall participants last year to 10,000 this year. Great volunteers. Well organized. I would like to see greater community involvement/awareness of this event. As I mentioned earlier, it got lonely out there in the far corners of the race course. Of course, I was at the Chicago marathon last week so perhaps my perspective is a little skewed.

  • Comments: A pretty good race. Pre-race expo wasn't too impressive, post race was decent. But you can make whatever you want out of the race and I enjoyed it!

  • Comments: What can I say? It was a huge commitment, and she did it. I'd hoped it would be the start of a life change for her, and that this report would be a great story of starting a new life, but I don't think it's happening. I don't believe she lost much if any weight training for it, and she eats very poorly. She REALLY suffered, and I don't know if she'll ever try again. I am extremely proud of her for sticking it out and finishing, though only slightly more than I was at the start, or if she'd quit at 10 miles. But she has so far to go, and it's sad to think it's likey that she'll never actually change.
