  • Comments: Good volunteers. This was Elite Cycling's first year running this event after taking over for KLM. Good small race. Good race day communication. I will consider doing this event in the future.

  • Comments: This was my first KLM sponsored race, and I had some pre-conceived worries about attending, but overall I think it was just fine for me. I'm not one for the awards ceremonies or post-race activities, so I was happy with that. The only thing I had an issue with was the finish. There was no tunnel/chute/ finish sign, so I had NO idea where it was. The RD was there directing, however. I will be thinking about the 3 midwest races next year, especially around the early bird signup time. I'm sure most people have there own opinions about the company/RD putting on the race and are probably validated from previous experiences, but I thought the race itself was just fine. Maybe I got lucky and picked the right one to do, though. Just my 2 cents....

  • Comments: My third Tri this season, my third AG podium. Top 10 out of 150, not bad for season 2. 1st in AG, I'll take it given only 13 in AG. Last weeks Tri had 39 in AG, got 3rd there. No rematch with the talent that finished 1st and 2nd there (probably a stretch to say I would keep up with them but who knows..). Is this how Phil feels when he wins a tournament that Tiger wasn't in? Race was on time. Course was simple and straight forward, little room for confusion. Quantity of volunteers seemed a little lighter than normal out on the course (water stations etc.). I liked the computer station where you could enter your bib# and get a print out of your time. It only gave swim and run splits but at least total time and overall rank was available right away. No awards ceremony with KLM events but understandably so. I volunteered at the Bike Source Tri earlier this year and maybe 15-20 people stuck around for awards there.

  • Comments: Overall, not a bad race. Nice area and the courses are largely closed to traffic. There is no shade at any point, so this could potentially be a very hot race. I will do it again though!

  • Comments: This is a fun race, real small last year, pretty good turn out this year. Checked my time from last year when i got home, 1:02:18, same as this year to the second. Good split consistency too: 2009 2010 Swim 13:18 13:25 (wore wetsuit in 2009) T1 :50 :59 (put on bike shoes in T1 in 2010) Bike 26:51 26:52 T2 :42 :41 Run 20:39 20:23 calm windy This has given me some motivation to train smarter for the 2011 season.

  • Comments: SUPER FLAT RACE. To bad the wind was strong. Affected all three areas. Interesting finishing area...down the gravel hill into a metal gate with tight corner onto a gravel road. Unfortunate bike dismount area with ditch jumping. Couldn't see a lick due to sun and bouy placement.... Volunteers were asked the morning of to help with run stations. Somehow he needs to entice more helpers.

  • Comments: Nice venue. The race was smaller, so I was in the 3rd heat. According to website, the sprint distance was supposed to start at 8:30. We ended up starting at 7:40. This was nice.

  • Comments: This was my 3rd USAT sanctioned Triathlon and I ended up with a 3rd place age group finish (one in my age group finished top 5 overall so I get a 3rd place age group prize even though I was fourth) so I guess 3rd time's a charm. Not sure if there's any more for me this summer but I'll train from now until next year and we'll so how I do then. This event was organized and executed pretty well. Looks like some cycling and leg work is in order as well as swim and run. I have access to a great personal trainer (hopefully the budget allows) and my gym has a 25 yd pool, great treadmills and a great cycle class. I have no excuses when the weather's bad.
