Maintaining Weight While Triathlon Training
This may be an unusual question, but what is the best way to keep weight on while eating healthy? The problem is that I struggle to maintain my weight and always feel like I need to eat more.

"This may be an unusual question, but what is the best way to keep weight on while eating healthy? I currently eat between 5-6 times a day but in small portions of 500-ish calories. Generally this includes a mix of vegetables, pasta, fish/chicken and fruit during the day for "main meals" supplemented by PB&J sandwiches or fruit smoothies as snacks. I always start the day with a bowl of oatmeal, a handful of almonds and blueberries mixed in. The problem is that I struggle to maintain my weight and always feel like I need to eat more. Are there energy-rich foods you can recommend that will help but still be healthy?"
Answer
Typically, when a person struggles to maintain or gain weight, nutrient empty foods (like those listed above) are considered choices in an effort to quickly increase calories without promoting immediate fullness. In contrast to individuals seeking weight gain, a person seeking weight loss is told to increase consumption of nutrient dense foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains to curb hunger and control appetite throughout the day.
