Have you ever wondered about the benefits and drawbacks of treadmill running?

Many people wonder about the benefits and drawbacks of running on a treadmill. I personally don’t like treadmills, because they go against the fundamental reason why I run—to get my mind off everyday worries, and to be alone with myself while listening to my breathing and my feet stomping. I know this may sound poetic and not very realistic, but it is what keeps me running when I am stressed, tired or just don’t feel like it. Our daily lives are usually very busy, noisy and full of distractions.

 

Why would you want to watch TV or listen to music on your headphones when you are running?

Why run with twenty or fifty other people around you in a crowed gym? I must admit, however, that I do sometimes use treadmills. Especially in the winter, when it’s snowy and zero degrees outside, the treadmill helps me maintain my aerobic base. [.....]
