"My Weight is Suffering Since I'm Eating More to Triathlon Train!"

I feel that I need to be eating more calories since I am working out so much, but anytime I push my caloric intake up at all, my weight goes up.

Question

Ok, so here is my story. I have had a problem with my weight my whole life. About 5 years ago, I finally lost the weight by counting calories (I try to stay near 900-1000 calories a day—any more than that and I gain weight). I have fluctuated up and down 10-15 pounds during the past 5 years, but have kept the weight off other than that.

 

My problem is that I have done moderate exercise over the years, walking on the treadmill or doing the elliptical machine for half an hour a few times a week, but nothing like what I am doing now that I have decided to start training for a triathlon. My problem is that I am using my training as an excuse to eat and my weight is suffering because of it. I feel that I need to be eating more calories since I am working out so much, but anytime I push my caloric intake up at all, my weight goes up. [.....]
