The Causes of Daily and Weekly Scale Fluctuations
As hard as you try to avoid it, it calls for you each and every morning. You hate to do it, but for some uncontrollable reason, your feet find their way to the bathroom scale.

I've just recently started tracking my weight and I've had as much as a four-pound swing in one day. Is that normal? Granted I'm not specifically tracking my calories/nutrition but still—four pounds seems like a lot.
Answer:
As hard as you try to avoid it, it calls for you each and every morning. You hate to do it, but for some uncontrollable reason, your feet find their way to the bathroom scale. Even though triathletes are much obsessed with numbers (pace, mph, wattage, etc.), this is the one number you should not fixate over. For countless uncontrollable reasons, your weight is likely to change on a daily basis and you must recognize the many factors contributing to the fluctuations. But for whatever reason it may be, weight changes are not an indication of failing with your weight loss goals. [.....]
