My first marathon only involved diarrhea, severe sunburn, back spasms and a pinched nerve in my neck so painful I walked around for a week with my head cocked to the side like some lanky, curious dog.

The only worry I had going into it was the swim...I couldn't touch the bottom and there weren't any lines to follow.

I was a wreck all week...worried about staying on the bike, as I have a tendency to fall off of it under ideal weather circumstances!

The start of the race I had the jitters. I was watching the other age groups start as they seeded the swim with over 1000 participants.
