Who's racing Leadman Bend this year? This will be my 2nd Iron'ish distance race. Looking forward to it although I hear the swim is quite cold.

I'll be doing one of the shorter courses. I hope to get up to Cultus lake this weekend or next for a test swim and a ride back into Bend.

Thought I'd give an update on Cultus Lake and some other pointsof interest regarding Leadman.

So far, the water is pretty great. I've been able to swim the lake a couple of times, and would say that as of this last SUnday, a sleveless wetsuit would have been a good option. The water is in at least the mid 60's right now. Unless something really weird happens, the lake will cool only a little bit. Right now the forecast is for sunny days for the next week, so there's hope for the temps staying pleasant. The morning air, however was in the mid 40's, so getting on the bike has been chilly.

The website for the race http://www.leadmantri.com/has just been updated. Good information there, now. If you're doing the race, T1 needs to be set up on Friday, and it's advisable to have T2 bag ready, as well.

Thanks! I popped in today specifically to see if anyone had posted info on the venue. Living in the PNW, these temps seem fairly typical so I should be well prepared. I plan on taking a quick swim on check in day when i'm out there dropping off the bike. Looking forward to it.

I will be showing up off and on at the finish-line. Unfortunately we are moving into Bend the day before the race and will be unpacking the truck that day so I can't do the race this year. But it is a great "Welcome to town!" event that I will probably be popping in at some point.

Arrived into town this afternoon. First time driving that section between Yakima and Bend. LOTS of nothing between here and there. Weather looks perfect, and even better - it seems as though Oktoberfest is also this weekend, and only 2-3 blocks from my condo. Hoping I have the energy after Sat to go for awhile.

I wonder what registration numbers look like this year. Last few years there are at least 2-3 folks in my office going to this race (same rough scale as the numbers that go to IM branded events). This year, I am pretty sure I'm the only one.

Great weather today! I thought they did a very good job of running an on time and fair event. I'll post my race report in a day or two.

Byrn won’t hold your hand through the long hours and miles required finishing or for success in an IM, he can only show you how to get there. The work is up to you.
