Really Long Threads - and picking them back up

Is there any way or a preference that allows us to come back to a thread that we've once left? For instance, if we read a thread that's 3 pages long, post in it, come back to it, is there a way it will take us to where we left off, instead of trying to search for our post to join back in?

Another example is TAN. One minute there's 40pages, go to lunch, come back, there's 56. If you don't know what page you left on (whether or not you post), it's hard to know where you left off...

Just a thought and question.
