Comments: Started drizzling as race started. Had been raining entire day before as well. Steady downpour off an on (more on than off) until ~16. Then torrents came until ~mile 25. Everything soaked. Right quad tightened up at mile 13. Left hip started hurting mile 15 and then left quad joined in the fun. Both quads me by mile 18, and really burning by 25. DNF'd last year and refused to repeat that this year. What would you do differently?: Not worry about the time so much in the first 1/2. Post race
Warm down: Some walking, mixed some endurox, gentle stretching. Very short-lived walking. started raining buckets again so I spent some time under the beer tent waiting for Amber. Blisters on feet turned out awesome. Minimal damage there. Left hip still hurting me. Lots of ice. What limited your ability to perform faster: Miscalculating early, hip/thigh pain and TONS OF RAIN!!!! Event comments: JUST THRILLED TO FINISH!!!!!!! Age grp place 19/105; OA females 94/578; OA people 425/1780! Last updated: 2004-02-03 1:46 PM
