Run
Comments: Went at a comfortably hard pace. Focused on trying to find a good piece of road to run on (avoiding ruts and rocks). Felt really good throughout the run even though it ended up being equal to my best 5k pace. What would you do differently?: Maybe could have gone a bit faster but not much Transition 1
Comments: T1 time is included with the bike. Got a good mount on the bike and up to speed but had a bit of trouble getting my feet into the shoes, need more practice with these shoes. What would you do differently?: Not much Bike
Comments: Time includes T1 and T2. Actual bike time was 33:16 for 36 km/hr. Awesome ride for me. Caught a few people right off the start and then got into a good rhythm. Was aiming for 220w the whole way and not too much on the hills. Everything felt great! Finally caught Scott about 3km into the second loop and we traded places a couple of times before I passed him for good with 5k to go. What would you do differently?: Maybe gone a bit harder after passing Scott to put some distance between us - although I suspect he would have stayed with me. Transition 2
Comments: Quick transition but almost took off with my helmet still on! What would you do differently?: Not much Run
Comments: For the first .5k I felt like it was going to be a tough run but then I started feeling better. Just told myself to go as hard as possible for as long as possible. If I blew up then so be it. I knew Scott wasn't far behind me and I was in 2nd OA. Made it to the turnaround with no idea where Scott was, I couldn't hear him behind me and didn't dare turn around. At the turnaround I saw that he was only about 5 seconds behind me - uhoh. I knew he would eventually catch me but I just told myself to make him work for it. He caught me about 1km later. I stayed with him for as long as I could but he had dropped down to 3:50/km and I just couldn't hold it. Ended up 17 seconds behind him What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Only thing I can think of is that I might have been able to go a bit harder on the bike to put a gap on Scott. Last updated: 2011-05-24 12:00 AM

Went for a short ride on the bike to make sure everything was working ok. Dropped the chain right off the bat and had to get that fixed.
Went for a run up the road - 1.6k.
