Comments: Wasn't even to the start line when the horn sounded. My fault too. Drafted of of a group of about 7-8 swimmers for the first third. It was awesome! They were swimming about three abreast and I tucked in between the feet of two swimmer in the second row. It was like the fastest I have ever swam. Lost them due to a poor navigation choice and could never catch up again. Tried to follow some others, but couldn't find my stride and was feeling really fatigued early on. Sucked in some water and my mouth was stinging from the salty ocean. My tongue eventually went numb too. I was struggling psychologically with this race. What would you do differently?: Obviously more training, I have lost a lot of motivation this year for some reason too. I'll just keep plugging away. Xterra is next weekend. Post race
Warm down: Oxygen intake exercises AKA breathing. moved out to the yummy goodies. What limited your ability to perform faster: Mentally not in it and maybe nutrition or something else made me feel weak. Event comments: These guys that put on the NSSS are awesome! They have great sponsors and always have a class act when it come to organized events. Last updated: 2011-07-31 12:00 AM

Coffee, Chobani and the drive to Waimea.
Couple of out and backs to the starting buoys. Hit a rock and scraped up my knee before the race.
