Swim
Comments: Water was so murky that I could not see anything in the water. I would swim on top of people and not be able to see them. This is my first open water swim and sighting was more of a problem than I thought it would be. I went off course several times and swam a lot more than I needed to. What would you do differently?: Work on sighting. Transition 1
Comments: T1 went much better than my first tri because I wore a tri top and did not have to put a shirt on my wet body. What would you do differently?: I would not change a thing. Bike
Comments: Bike went well. I wass torn between pushing the uphills and relaxing on the downhills and just saving my legs by working the downhills and gearing down for the uphills to the low ring. These hills were steep and slow! What would you do differently?: I think it went well so not much change here either. Transition 2
Comments: I was a little slow to jump off the bike because my legs were a little shaky. Run
Comments: Bombed the run! I was immediatly greeted with calf cramps so I stopped twice to stretc them out. Then my right side cramped up. I guess I was dehydrated but I drank more than usual on the bike to help prevent this. I was out of gas and musterd up a slackers pace to trudge my ay through. The run was the downfall of my performance. What would you do differently?: I had not trained much before the race because of work/life getting in the way. I took of a whole month of training and only worked for 1 week to prepare for this race. Apparently I am not superman. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, stretched, hydrated. I left within 20 minutes of finishing so I could catch the last half of my kids soccer tournament. They came in second! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. I think I am kind of burned out because I lack the desire to train. Event comments: The organizer had to scramble because a hurricane was forcasted for that night and the next day. The sprint and the olympic were run the same day at the same time. The people were great, but the communication left more to be desired. Last updated: 2011-04-12 12:00 AM
