Comments: Had to essentially walk the first 2/10 mile as the throng of people made it difficult to get any type of pace ... also had to duck + weave from thereon out like a fullback to maintain any sort of steady pace. Seeing Steph on the sidelines cheering me gave me strength to finish strong. What would you do differently?: Have and fulfill the goal of finishing a qaulifying 10k under 8:40/mile in order to have a chance at running in one of the first waves of the race. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Took a double-caffinated gel after the race, downed 2-3 bottles of water and then had a champagne brunch with my bride (grandparents had the kids) in our old Midtown neighborhood. What limited your ability to perform faster: Crowd. Event comments: This is the race for many Atlantans ... over 65,000 runners per year. All-in-all surprised about how well they manage the chaos associated with the throngs of people. Post-race was disappointing in that I expected more. SWAG was minimal, if any. That being said, though, I wasn't going to hang around when I had the opportunity to have brunch w/ just my bride + the newspaper! Last updated: 2005-09-28 12:00 AM
