Swim
Comments: Passed about ten people. What would you do differently?: Was a little spastic going into the water. Took until the first bouy to calm down and simply swim. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Wiped out a third of the way into the bike. Totally ripped up shorts and my back. Really shook my focus and kept me tentative. What would you do differently?: Don't crash. Transition 2
Run
What would you do differently?: More uphill practice. Better pace throughout. Try to negative split so that I go strong into bike instead of winded. Post race
Warm down: Walked around for about 5 minutes then went to paramedics to get my abrasions treated. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training and experience on the bike. Event comments: It was my first race. Run very efficiently but with a laid back demeanor. Everyone friendly and not too serious even though they were on the ball about details. Drove up on Friday night; hotel. Breakfast of fruit, eggs, dry toast with tea. Stretched and generally had nervous stomach. Dana and Esme cheered me on.
